When is the last time you felt like God?

Asked by Mimishu1995 (23798points) August 15th, 2014

I remember the first time I was left to watch over the house. I felt like a king of the house, going around the house like I ruled the whole place. I felt like the house was my world and everyone had to obey me. Well, that was one silly childish feeling.

Have you ever had a similar feeling? Have you ever felt like God/king/you had total rule?

Everytime I set sail I feel like a minor god under the greater ones, like Tiamat. Impetuous sumerian goddess of the oceans. I feel like her son. Master of my fate and those onboard.

You’re supposed to feel this way in your own house. I know a certain someone that will enjoy this question…

I don’t think I have ever felt like God.

But I have felt complete and utter freedom, slipped from the usual bonds of the earth and wholly in the present, an adrenalin rush of speed and wind exhilaration and exertion. It’s happened skiing, bicycling, hiking, running, climbing.

When I’m driving on a challenging road, and I’m hitting my marks perfectly, and timing everything right, that’s pretty close.
The other place would be on top of a mountain, and you look down and see a hawk or eagle soaring below you. That’s nice.

I’ve never felt old, omnipotent or like a fictional character.

My grandkids make me feel like that a lot.
In June we had a family reunion at a state park in Oklahoma. I rented side-by-side cabins for Rick and me, the other cabin was for Chris and his wife and 3 kids. They went up the day before we did. It was a 6 hour drive. When we showed up the next day, two-year-old Adrionna was just in awe that Gramma had magically shown up in in this magical, mountainous, far away land to be with them!

When I beat all the neo bosses in this game called Rogue Legacy. Seriously, some of those bosses were designed to be near impossible. Of course, they’re not, but man were they tough. But I felt all God like after defeating Alexander IV and Ponce de Fréon.

But never again please.

@Mimishu1995, I started to pass up this question, thinking from the headline that it had something to with religion, the kind of question I usually avoid. But I’m glad I went back and read it because it brought back a very clear 60-year old memory.

I had just gotten home from seeing a movie with my mother, father and younger brother. I must have been around 11. As we were walking into the house, I was suddenly hit by the feeling you described. I didn’t feel like God, but for some reason I felt like a grown-up, very powerful and confident.

I’ve never understood what triggered that feeling.

Thanks for the reminder.

When I exterminated the Dinosaurs.

I don’t feel like a god. I feel like the one that slaughtered a god.

@ragingloli why the dinosaurs, man?

Dutchess_III's avatar

Yeah, man! WHY??!!

We want the dinosaurs back!

So, bring ‘em back @ragingloli!

I’ve felt like Santa, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny, but never like a God.

I take that back. I felt like God when it was time for the kids to go to bed, or when I ordered them to brush their teeth when they didn’t feel like it. Maybe I was feeling more like a dictator?
