Hey! Can you please suggest me some great mild perfumes for men?

Asked by Khajuria9 (2141points) August 20th, 2014

The scent can range from aquatic to light fruity and woody.
Can you give me some ideas?

Also, the perfumes should be long-lasting.

For years I used Halston Z-14 and constantly got comments of approval from the ladies. Nowadays, though, I don’t like the smell of cologne on myself or on other males.

Here’s an oldie but goodie. (our chorus teacher used to slather himself in it. You could smell him from 10–20 ft. away and if he shook your hand, the smell lingered all day long :). Fortunately it’s a nice smell.

And it can certainly be much more subtle if one doesn’t put on tons of it like he did.

the name is Canoe.

(interestingly, there’s a brand of talcum powder used by barbers and hairdressers that has the same nice smell)

that’s Clubman Talc. Not always easy to find but worth it.

Is this a woman asking the question or a man? (sorry, @Khajuria9 I don’t know your gender)

If someone bought me (male) a perfume, I wouldn’t ever use it. Perfumes are very personal choice, one that a person MUST select for ones self. Perfumes are, in that way, like fine art – they may have many admirers, but ones’ own personal taste is what matters.

@elbanditoroso The OP is female. And I guess she is asking for a recommendation for a present maybe.

@elbanditoroso, while I agree with you in principle, I have to say that the only cologne I ever used (Halston) was given to me by a girlfriend. I loved it at first smell and used it for 15 years. I

@Mimishu1995 – got it, thanks.

But my point is the same – just because she likes the scent, is no guarantee that he will.

@elbanditoroso I know. I agree with you. I just think she wants a little recommendation.

I like the clean smell of soap and man.

Crap (well not that.) I’ve got a really nice one, very subtle, but think I can remember the name? I’ll get for you and get it to you tomorrow. I don’t like overpowering scents.

I intensely dislike perfumes and cologne. Seriously, I’d rather smell BO. And of course if you dip yourself in it, you can expect to hear me mention it, because it’s not only unpleasant, but I often have a reaction to such nonsense.

As a side note many government buildings and hospitals have a policy against people wearing perfumes. http://archive.news10.net/news/national/199525/5/Fragrances-banned-at-government-buildings-hospitals

Many ingredients in perfumes and colognes are cancer causing, http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/toxic-perfumes-and-colognes/

And by the way, the ingredients in perfumes and colognes are completely unregulated by the FDA, yet we continue to trust those idiots with safeguarding our health. What a joke! http://www.preventcancer.com/consumers/cosmetics/fragrances.htm

Thanks Mimishu to answer on my behalf, had gotten into some work, so couldn’t respond timely on here. Well, I need to present one of my he-friend, was thinking of gifting him a mild, sensible and lasting fragrance. I am personally quite fond of Davidoff Cool Water, dunno about its male variant. I would like the fragrance to be aquatic and not an over-powering stuff.
Any recommendations would be appreciated. :)

@Khajuria9 What does “aquatic” mean? Fishy? Just wondering.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@snowberry Sure, every guy wants to smell like fish. :)

Khajuria9's avatar

Smell like Fish??!! Are ya kidding?? Fish don’t smell good, do they?
;)

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@Khajuria9 Depends how it’s prepared and presented. Some times it’s nice.

Khajuria9's avatar

I do hope that they smell nice sometimes! ;) ;)

I have a bottle of “Bulgari, pour Homme” that is the sexiest cologne known to man. Traditionally I wear Hugo by Hugo Boss. For years I wore Grey Flannel by Geoffrey Beene, but I don’t know if it’s still made.
