How do you wake up and get your eyes feeling chipper?

Asked by Aster (20028points) August 23rd, 2014

Each morning my eyes feel tired for hours after waking up and I feel sleepy. I drink one mug of cappuccino but it doesn’t help. Coffee makes me nervous. It’s so hard to feel alert and ready to enjoy your day when your eyes are half shut and you feel groggy. Please tell me how you wake up and get your eyes feeling wide open. I refuse to resort to ice water on my face.
I get eight hours of sleep on one mg of melatonin.

Ask the wife to lob her tits out, works a treat…crude, but effective.

I find a cold cloth on the eyes for a few minutes and then a couple of shots of eye wash like this really helps.

I’m going to get a washcloth right now!! Thanks @Pachy!

Hope it helps, @Aster. I’ve suffered from tired eyes for years!

Frozen wash cloth in the frizzer. Run it under a little cold water to get out the bulk of the rigor mortis and press over face for as long as you can stand it. haha

Thanks Pachy and @Coloma ! I think I’ll put this washcloth in the bar fridge. The other fridge is jammed packed full of food and interesting green experiments. All in the name of science of course.

First, I chug a bottle of cold water. Then, I run a washcloth under very hot water and scrub the heck out of my face with it. Gets the organs pumping and wakes my face and eyes right up.

You’ve got it all backwards @cookieman
It’s chug a hot cup of coffee and then scrub with a cold wash cloth. haha

Ha! Maybe so @Coloma, but I can’t drink coffee first thing on an empty stomach. Plus, I feel like the super hot cloth burns awake all the morning muck off my face and neck.

I was given this hint from someone else. Rinse out a babywipe, and leave it wet. Put it in the freezer. Apply to the eyes for five minutes. You may need to refreeze in between.

I stay up for at least a half an hour.
