Why does my brain almost physically hurt when I try to contemplate something that I know to be true, but is unfathomable none-the-less?

Or like trying to think of you grandparents, and your great grandparents, and you great-great grandparents…..after about the great-great-great-great grandparent I get dizzy!

Our brains evolved to understand a particular scale. Understanding large numbers, such as stars in our galaxy, the size the universe, or the number of organisms in our intestine would have served no evolutionary advantage.

@ragingloli You? Not WE??
But that does explain why most people can’t drive worth a crap.

Probably we should wonder about the people, and their brains, who aren’t perplexed by those things.

I don’t know anyone who isn’t perplexed.

When I was going through that awful, shitty time with my idiot,shitty boss, I just kept telling myself, “She is nothing more than a big monkey, making shit up.”

Because real epiphanies are painful nasty things.
