The other question is, how will you connect the ends so that they don’t come apart… see if this kind of material will let you slip one end into the other, so that it makes an adjustable ring.

Perhaps what you need is cord for making edgings and the like. In shops that supply carnival costume materials, cords come in different qualities and sizes. There are either decorative braids or cords, which need no embellishment, or the kind of cords that have to be covered with purpose designed and made covers. Samaroo’s Group of Companies sells costume supplies to carnivals around the world. It has a website (not helpful); but you can e-mail them for information. Even if you don’t buy from them, at least you should be able to find out what it is you need. My place of work is close to their outlet in Port of Spain and I can stop in and make enquiries for you.
