How do you get rid of fruit flies?

Dumb as ever, I put my banana peel in my room garbage can, and when I took the garbage out, a bunch of fruit flies swarmed out (gross!). Now, they’re all in my room, out in the house, etc. I heard they can lay up to 500 eggs! I need a fast way to get rid of them – any easy ways?
