Must-see list for kids visiting London?

Asked by fluthernutter (6333points) September 24th, 2014 from iPhone

Hello! We’re in England (Bath and London) for a wedding. Any suggestions for kid-friendly things to do or see? We have a bunch of guidebooks, of course. But was hoping for some insider/local tips that the guidebooks might have missed. (The kids are 4 mos, 2 yrs, 3 yrs and 5 yrs—not all mine!)

Thanks and cheers!

For kids that age, I would have to say the “must-see” list is the same as it would be anywhere else – parks and playgrounds. Run them ragged so you can enjoy yourselves a bit.

I was bit older than the kids in your group – about 13 – when I went, but this may still be useful. Hyde Park is wonderful and has a lot of different parts to it. The Tube is great fun for kids; I remember my brother and I found “mind the gap” hilarious. The Tower of London made an impression because of the beefeaters and the suit of armor hall, and the torture stories. Seeing Big Ben and the Eye was cool, and just walking around looking at all the beautiful old buildings.

The London Eye is good. There is an Sea Life Centre near to it which is good. The V&A and the Science Museums in South Kensington are great, as is the transport museum in Covent Garden. Always lots of entertainment in Covent Garden so you can have a walk around there.

Look at Time Out kids for some cool ideas

They might be a little too young, but the natural history museum and the science museum are great. They’re next to each other if I remember correctly, and since museums are free you can try them out anyway. Lots of awesome things to see and do in there!

There are some Harry Potter-themed attractions, I think.
