I skipped breakfast this morning to be on Fluther. I was going to grab some yogurt, but I lost track of time, and dashed off without it. Now I’m faced with too much time before lunch.
I am craving a candy bar, but that would be a bad idea.
What do you snack on, especially when pressed for time to eat?

Anything that I can eat without cooking. Chips, chocolate, instant noodles… anything!
You skipped breakfast for Fluther? Dr. Jelly would be moved :)
Nacho Cheese Doritos and Philadelphia cream cheese. A delicious mess.
almonds or cashews and a few squares of 70%-72% chocolate
@Mimishu1995 – Oh no! You said chocolate! I will end up having a candy bar yet. I can’t really relate to instant noodles.
@johnpowell – I have never tried that. It does sound good. I might have to dash down the street pretty soon and see if I can get some.
@hominid – Oh there’s that chocolate temptation again. I will end up having that after work I bet.
Blood right from your neck.
@Mastema – Yikes! May I suggest some tasty blood pudding instead? Also, maybe a little sun. You are looking a bit pale.
@crissy14 – Gosh1 I haven’t had any of those in a long, long time.
A couple stalks of celery filled with organic almond butter.
Taste the rainbow. Well, the meaning is somewhat changed for that slogan.
@Mastema – Fortunately for me, you will not be around me for lunch.
@johnpowell – Guess what. I have a delicious mess. I went to the little grocery down the street. Roast beef sub, Doritos, philly on both, and a BIG bottle of Hawaiian Punch. I drink something red too.
Roast Beef crisp sandwich washed down with a glass of Dandelion & Burdock.
I try not to keep snackable items around because when I know they’re there I eat ‘em up fast. I have zero will power. The problem is, I still wind up craving snacks, especially in the afternoon and late evening—well hell, anytime I’m awake—and when there’s nothing in the fridge or pantry, I wind up concocting some weird combination of ingredients that’s far worse to eat than than store-bought snacks.
Here’s an example. One night recently I was dying for something sweet and of course had nothing in the house. So I made a kind of icing with brown sugar and cream cheese and wolfed that down, both loving and regretting every bite.
Living alone ain’t for sissies.
Writing this has made hungry for something sweet and there’s nothing in the house. Mmmm, wonder if there’s any cream cheese left.
I can identify with the willpower issues.
Either tortilla chips with salsa or bread with fancy cheese. Or ice cream.
Rushing out the door, I often grab a slice of bread and cheese, a banana, or a raw carrot.
My favorite snack would have to be chocolate chip ice cream. LOVVVEEEE THEEM!!
Nuts, dried fruit, popcorn. If I’m at home, I’ll sometimes raid the fridge for cheese, ham or olives.
I don’t often have snackable items in the flat because they’ve already been eaten.
Almonds covered in dark chocolate, microwaved baking potato with a little mild salsa, hummus and raw carrots, a sliver of smoked salmon w. capers, celery stalks stuffed with organic crunchy peanut butter, an occasional slice of whote wheat toast with some pb and j.
Once in a while I will pop some real popcorn in a large skillet and throw a little parmesan cheese on it.
Midget Gems & a Curly Wurly
@ucme, I have never heard of those. Do you have a photo?
Sour cream and onion Pringles
Green apple Switzer’s licorice.
Cheese.
Goldfish crackers.
Oh yes! Goldfish crackers make the world go round.
Lots of stuff mentioned here would make me get round.
Nuts. I love nuts and stick to the unsalted organic variety. I also love nuts and natural yogurt with honey and sesame seeds thrown over.
I like seed crackers, quick soup (not often) popcorn (butter free fat free). Wheat free biscuits, a packet of wafer thin turkey or chicken (just on its own out the packet). High grain toast. I also make my own muesli and snack on that.
Soya products like soya yogurt.
I like to mix the cheddar and pretzel Goldfish, @Here2_4.
You can get the green apple licorice at The Dollar Tree. I literally eat a package at a time. We had some Twizzlers the other day and the S/O turns to me and says, “You know, this stuff is kinda hard to eat after all the flavor of the green apple.” It’s bold.
A stack of Keebler’s chocolate chip cookies and a big glass of milk to dip them in!
Starchy snacks make me feel all draggy and bleh.
Trail mix, heck yeah.
At the moment, I’m liking bananas with a little custard. Or some blueberries and Greek yoghurt. I enjoy nuts too.
@ucme i always hated midget gems
@downtide I loved them, especially the black ones.
I like popcorn, boiled eggs, Greek yogurt, Quest or other high quality protein bar, fruit, tuna with crackers, cream cheese on Ritz, homemade protein smoothie, peanut butter right off a spoon…
If I have more calories to spare or I’m not tracking macros, I like chips, chocolate, trail mix, Oreos, muffins, cookies, ice cream…
@downtide Loved the blacks & reds, once upon a time they sold bags with just those colours in.
In my desk at work, I usually keep some organic cereal bars and some emergency chocolate. Pretzels are also good snack items.
Organic blue corn chips. Like crack cocaine
Nuts. Especially These. I always carry some around in my purse.
I like this question. To be sure I have a hankering for sugar free, chocolate Jello pudding.
When I am rushed I drink a meal replacement drink.
It has already been suggested, any kind of nuts, good, nutritious, protein. yum!
