Am I going to be terminated?
I just started working for a security company. All of a sudden today I got a phone call from the company’s dispatcher telling me, there’s a problem at the place I work at- and not to come in tonight for work but to come to HR tomorrow morning. From what I can remember I haven’t been late, I haven’t fell asleep, or talk on the phone. So I don’t really know what to expect.

I’m afraid that has “about to be sacked” written all over it. But It might also mean you are going to be reassigned to another site. By the way, Welcome Aboard!
@majorrich I don’t really know what I did, but if I am terminated I’ll just accept my fate, and move forward.
Welcome to Fluther.
That’s the way to handle it. Think of it this way: “What’s the worst that could happen?”
Well, I suppose that “the worst” is that HR will have kidnapped your entire family and started executing them, but when you arrive they decide to start torturing them right in front of you, trying to extract information from you that you don’t even have. And they don’t even care, and just go on torturing and murdering. Or even worse than that, you could be double-parked while this is going on, and about to get your car towed. Man, that day would suck.
So, okay, maybe not that, because that really would be pretty awful. But compared to that, being sacked ain’ no thang. And the upside to that is that you’ll have more time for great questions like, “How can I get another job where I don’t have to worry about the HR people kidnapping, torturing and murdering my family? Because I’ve been there, and it’s not as cool as it always seems on television.”
It doesn’t sound good, but do come back here and let us know what happened.
I worked in security for a while when I got laid off for a while. I did get re-assigned a couple of times as they needed more or less people at one location or another. Mostly spent my time walking my key route and getting in shape for a summer hiking trip to Philmont. Climbing those steps did me a world of good.
@CWOTUS Hah, I guess that would be worse than getting fired.
Never mind, if it is the ‘bad’ news you are predicting. It will allow other better doors to open for you. :)
Leave on good terms so that you can get a great reference. That is, if it is that.
Either your urine test or your background check came back with bad news.
Maybe someone complained about you.
@elbanditoroso My drug test came back negative for everything, and I don’t have a criminal record.
@jca I wouldn’t know why someone would complain, I haven’t done or said anything out of character.
Maybe they lost the contract and simply do not need your services. If you stay positive they might call you back when they get the next one.
Good luck. Let us know what happens.
@LuckyGuy I am hoping thats what happened. But the dispatcher said it was “job related” so I dunno..
@vatofjelly: In the meantime, try not to be nervous about it.
Good luck! Please update us and let us know how things go. :)
It sure doesn’t sound good. Maybe it’s nothing serious. Good luck!
Expect the worst,
but hope for the best.
That way you won’t be surprised whichever way it goes.

It may be about something else. They may need you elsewhere. Don’t worry yourself sick.
Please update us and let us know what happened!
@seekingwolf It turns out I did complain about my scheduling, and I was removed from the site, only to be placed some where else. I start my new location Saturday!
Phew! The collective is relieved on your behalf. :)
Glad to hear your situation wasn’t a bum steer!
Well, I’m glad to hear that your family is safe, then. Would have made a great story, though.
@vatofjelly: Please consider sticking around Fluther. We love having new members. Welcome!
