Bring a book. Of course you can donate magazines. Have you leared how to knit? That’s a perfect activity to pass the time.
Can you read books on your phone? Sometimes that helps me to get through if I didn’t bring one with me.
As for donating magazines, I would just make sure they’re appropriate for anyone who might pick up one.
Can you get Bejewelled on your cell phone?
^That’s what I do! I love playing Bejeweled when I’m waiting.
My PCP’s office lies on a hillside overlooking the river valley that runs through the city, and is beautifully landscaped. I spend my time standing and staring out the window. I ain’t touching those magazines.
Any situation that entails waiting around requires you to bring your own entertainment. It’s a funny thing, the degree to the pall of gloom that can hover in medical/dental waiting rooms. There are lots of health care people these days miserable with their professions, fronting demoralized unhappy staff persons. The differences can be rather striking. Insurance companies now pretty much compel medical offices to function with the the cold efficiency and empathy levels common to slaughterhouses Any practice with a comfortable and pleasant waiting room is a good indication that there might be some level of concern for your well being, and it’s a really big factor in my choice of doctors/dentists.
I bookmarked this brilliant Fluther post for a rainy day at the airport. Maybe you can adapt a couple of them for your doctor’s office wait.
Warning: some of them might gain you some unwanted attention.
Depends. How much privacy do you have?
I read a novel or play on my phone. I can read the news, play brain games, listen to music, watch YouTube videos or do crosswords and so many other things on my phone. If I know the wait will be long, I take my netbook and do some work.
Bring a book or people watch.
What about listening to music with headphones?
@anniereborn I need to hear the nurse when it is my turn. Good idea for waiting for the bus.
Just use one headphone. Or if you see the nurse pull one out.
You can get some earbud ones for like 5 bucks
Keep your hands off of everything.
What I actually do is nothing. I shut my eyes, concentrate on my breathing, try to tune out everything except the concept of lowering my blood pressure. it is surprisingly successful.
