Is it possible to take a major and a double minor?
I am thinking of majoring in some sort of engineering, and then double minoring in Chinese language and Spanish language. 1. Is that physically possible? 2. Would that be too much to handle?

Although I haven’t personally heard many cases of it, I’m sure that it’s possible. However, you’ll probably be overextending yourself. If you really want to study both languages, and receive recognition from the university for it, you might consider minoring in one and seeing whether your university has a certificate program for the other (certificates are usually shorter than an actual minor.)
You should definitely draw up a graduation plan to see how long it would take you to cover all the classes necessary for the major and minors/certificates together. The school that I went to had a heavily impacted engineering program (since we were an engineering school) and it took most students five years to graduate with the major alone.
Yes. At my school, I can potentially get three minors. I’ve taken max+ credits 2 out of the 3 semesters I’ve been in school and I’m doing fine so far.
If you want, you can go to a university’s webpage, and they’ll probably list all of the requisites for degrees and minors. There’s core curriculum, too, don’t forget that. But you can use a lot of the core curriculum for your minor requirements.
Here’s the thing. You’re majoring in a science which requires different perquisites than stuff from the arts (languages, humanities, everything non science!) So you will not only have to meet your bulk of the sciences, but you’ll have to meet the requirements for your minors. I know you’re new to college and what not, and “the more” seems merrier but the truth is it isn’t. If you get your science degree, your job isn’t going to give a damn whether or not you can speak Chinese or Spanish, unless you are in such a department that requires it, which is highly unlikely unless you are dealing with a company who has strong ties and connections to China or Spain/Mexico/South America. The truth is, you’re going to be hired upon your particular set of skills. In engineering they really want to know if you can do your projects well and work well with others. In my humble opinion, just focus on engineering and interning (NO INTERNING NO JOBS! THATS THE WAY ENGINEERING WORKS I’VE GOT 3 BUDDIES WHO INTERNED, ONE DOESN’T HAVE A JOB THE OTHER 2 DO BECAUSE THEY INTERNED). You can ALWAYS study language on yoru own free time, no point in minoring in it. If you apply to a place where they require language, they will siimply ask you if you can speak the language. Unless you were applying for Human Resources with another language that’s the only time I can imagine they (those hiring you) would give a damn whether or not you have an appreciation for the foreign language.
GOOD LUCK HAVE FUN IN COLLEGE USE YOUR WIT USE YOUR BRAIN DONT HANG AROUND THE DRUNKARDS
prerequisites not perquisites.
LOL @gailcalled I knew I had misspelled it swiftly but I didn’t even check to see if it were correctly fixed.
( Not misspelled but a different word, meaning ” a special right or privilege.”)
