What are those clubs for older guys called again?

Asked by XOIIO (18328points) October 23rd, 2014

I think I saw one locally, and remember there being something like that in the flintstones (lol), a club for middle aged men for socializing and they would likely have a mascot and that sort of thing. The name is eluding me.

Do you mean lodges like the Elks? Also called fraternal organizations.

Shriners Club?

It is a lodge. The one that Fred and Barney belonged to was ‘Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes Lodge No. 26’ At one point, Fred was the ‘Grand Pooh-Bah’, or leader of the group. It is a term that is still occasionally used for a pompous person who considers themselves high and mighty within an organization.

Red Green is the President of the Possum Lodge. That is somewhere in Canada isn’t it?

It’s called a fraternal organization. There are plenty around. Various Masonic groups, the Shriners, Knights of Columbus, Odd Fellows, Woodmen of the World, loyal Order of Moose, etc. They’re generally not specifically for older or middle-aged men ether.
