What are some of the personal questions asked when donating blood?
I am disqualified from donating blood from the medications I am on so I need someone else to tell me what it feels like. I heard that their questions are intrusive.

I didn’t find it intrusive. It’s been a few years since I donated, but the questions are basically to assess if you’re an HIV risk, or if you’re a Mad Cow Disease risk. Therefore they ask about your sexual habits and your travel patterns between certain dates. I wouldn’t call that intrusive though, just careful.
We used to sell our blood, it paid for a great breakfast. I didn’t have to give up anything.
It’s really not that intrusive. They give you a “deferral medication” list of all the meds that could disqualify you. They ask if you’ve had unprotected sex with a gay/bisexual man, if you’ve ever prostituted, and if you’ve ever injected illegal drugs into yourself. Oh, and of course, the travel restrictions between certain dates (many, many years ago) in certain countries. It’s really not that invasive.
They ask if you have ever had an STD. I don’t find that intrusive as my answer is “no” so it’s not embarassing for me.
They are intrusive but they have to be. They need to be sure that your blood is not going to infect the person who receives it.
I’m glad they ask.
I only know my question to those giving blood. Can you spare more, sweets…?
I give blood fairly often, this is a sample from the questionnaire:
For men: have you had sex with a man even once since 1977?
Have you ever had Chagas disease?
Since 1980, have you ever spent more than 4 months in Great Britain?
Have you spend time outside the United States in the last three years?
Have you ever had a blood transfusion?
For women: Have you ever been pregnant?
Have you received any organ transplants?
Have you had a corneal graft?
