Why would he end the conversation after our date?

I went on a date a few days ago and we spend hours together, I texted him after the date appreciating our time and he said lets hangout again soon and then ended the conversation instantly after saying “See ya”. This is odd as he never does this. Why would he distance himself in such a way? Does that mean he doesn’t want me anymore or is it because he needs time to think through if he wants to keep me around.
