How to tell if your texts are being blocked on Samsung Galaxy S3?

Asked by AshlynM (10684points) November 20th, 2014

I’ve been trying to text an iPhone user on my Samsung S3 for a week now but they literally haven’t responded to any of my messages.

I’m not really sure if they’re just flat out ignoring me and refusing to respond or they’ve blocked me. I realize they could just be super busy and haven’t gotten around to me yet.

I don’t receive any error messages when I send them. It appears to have been delivered like usual.
Is there a way to tell if they’re blocking me?

I don’t think there is a way to find out for sure. The only thing I can think of is to actually call the number. If it only rings once and then goes straight to voicemail, chances are they blocked your number.

I think the better question is why you are being blocked or ignored.

If you aren’t getting any error messages, I would say that either the messages are getting through and ignored or the person automated the ignoring process by blocking you. Either way, it is a deliberate thing based on their desire not to communicate with you.

Do you have caller ID blocked on your phone?
Sometimes I have family that sends me a text and their name doesn’t show up so I ignore the messages that have their caller ID blocked.
Why don’t you not simply call them? If they don’t answer, then you got your answer for sure. If it was happening with other numbers than there maybe something wrong with your phone. If not, then it is just them.

@Pandora I called them multiple times, no answer each time. It rang three or four times before going to voicemail so that didn’t really tell me if I was being blocked. I guess the only way to know for sure is ask them or check their phone.
