Where in the world is the best place for a family vacation?

I’d say it’s hard to really say without knowing what kind of vacation you want and what you like. Do you want an active vacation where you do sporting activities, like skiing? Do you like warm places like the Caribbean? Do you like theme parks? Is money an issue? Are you willing to go anywhere in the world or stick to the continental US? Are you looking for a place that looks like what we think of as traditional Christmas, like Germany or Belgium?

@jca :Anything’ll do. All is fine with me. Anywhere will do me, I’m not picky. And money is not an issue for me here. I am ready to venture out into the world. :)

@AndrewThan35: There are so many choices that I’d say it’s really still hard without knowing where you’ve been and what you’re into.

For a nice holiday vacation that is “traditional Christmas” I’d say go to Germany or Belgium or maybe Italy.

If you are into staying in the US, and like to ski, head up to Canada (Banff) or Vermont, or maybe Colorado.

It also depends on the ages of your kids. If they’re teens, they probably want some action. If they’re little, they’re happy with a hotel pool.

@AndrewThan35: I just spent a week in Orlando with my daughter. We had a great time and she enjoys telling stories about the rides, but if you asked her before we went, “What are you looking forward to doing on vacation?” she’d say “going swimming in the hotel pool and seeing the orca whales.” She’s 7.

Best place for a family vacation? Maui. Kaanapali Beach.

As a child we used to go to a resort in Okinawa called Okuma. I don’t know if it’s still there, but in 1968 it was a tropical paradise with powder white sand, palm trees miniature golf, and I assume stuff for adults too. If it is still there, I am sure it’s not the magical place it was then. Stripped of the lens of childhood.

Why don’t you try places like Southeast Asia? Countries like Singapore, Malaysia (especially Sabah), and Thailand are great.

I really like family camp trips around a local lake. I am also longing to bring the family to Hawaii, we were just talking about it over Thanksgiving dinner. Of course Disney is another family vacation destination.

How does a trip to the Cayman Islands sound? It could be a nice vacation spot for you.
