How to make my living room more beautiful ?

Choose the most beautiful color in the universe. Paint all the walls that color but in each case -that is, with each wall – shift it just a little, so that no matter what you do, you can’t get the color out of your mind, because it keeps changing, like Nature. Find fabric in the same color/s and cover furniture with it neatly, not thrown over but tailored. Have some wooden furniture and some good brass objects (because you’re in India). Have some green plants. Have some books. Have plenty of good lamps, not too intricate in design. Avoid overhead lights, they make people look dead, people look more beautiful lit from the side. Have rugs in colors that are NOT the wall color. Have the rugs be bright and clear. Keep them clean. There should be flowers, fresh ones, whenever possible. I envy you a new house in Mumbai.

Look in magazines, look at websites. Magazines like Better Homes and Gardens, Architectural Digest, etc. will give you ideas. Ideas about colors, ideas about styles, ideas about furniture placement, ideas about paint, lighting, floor covering, wall hangings, etc.

Oh my, I am SO jealous! You live in India full of color, amazing silks, fabrics, pillows, decor.
I’d give anything to live in such a rich and colorful place. I’d go for something like this in all it’s esoteric and ethnic glory.

The first thing I would do is go to a retro toy store and buy some Star Wars ships and hang them from the ceiling. I’d have at least 1 shelf of stormtroopers and a giant chess board in the middle of the room.

Go to Sherwin Williams web site where they have lots of helpful tools to help you decide your color scheme. My favorite tool is the visualizer that you can upload a picture of your room and it will actually color the room with your color choices.
