Should I not serve this at work potluck tomorrow?

First potluck at work and I was stupid and thought of bringing in green bean casserole tomorrow. I didn’t take into consideration the crunchy onions would get soggy and mushy tomorrow morning and I can’t reheat it tomorrow because lunch would be three hours away.
I’m thinking about just not bringing it and instead buying a rotisserie chicken from Kroger lol.

Just pick out the soggy onions and add fresh ones and heat it tomorrow. Or, buy a nice pie or cookies at the bakery, more festive than a chicken and eat the green bean casserole yourself. haha
Hey stop it, that’s not stupid, it’s learning. I love those chickens. Or cookies and pie are fun if a little naughty.
Problem is we have a million desserts already and no meats
What about finger foods? Veggies, etc.
I guess…I’ve already made the casserole and I feel like I wasted all this time
You could try taking the mushy onions off, but it’s iffy. But I’d bet a few wouldn’t get noticed.
Honestly, if you brought the green bean casserole with soggy onions? I’d eat it. What, people throw leftovers away?? We’ve most of us eaten green bean casserole that was day-old.
Look in your fridge/pantry. You might make up a decent cheese/olive-pickle tray. I’d take cold fried chicken before a roasted one that will stand 3 hours.
I vote picking off the soggy ones and replacing with crunchy ones. Easy.
You’ve worked hard on the casserole. Don’t let it go to waste.
I’m toying with an idea here. Why not leave some of the onions in soft, but just adding a bunch of fresh crunchy onions just before serving it. The flavors might be amazing.
I eat green bean casserole second day all the time. The onions inside the casserole are always mushy and then the final five minutes you bake it you sprinkle some onions on top. More than five and they burn, they are very finicky.
Green been casserole needs to be at least warm, if you can’t microwave it then don’t bring it, the onions aren’t a problem. To microwave a 9 inch sq, just do it for a minute, move the edges to the middle and the middle out, smooth over, and heat another minute.
As a side note I always use half the milk, my MIL doesn’t use any.
Nothing beats a killer lasagna.
We have microwave and toaster oven. I think I’ll just bring it anyway. Screw it lol.
Good job. It should be awesome.
Also I might just remove the mushy part topping and just reheat it and crunch some new ones. I think it’ll be ok.
I should’ve used fresh or at least frozen green beans though. Canned is eh.
Thanks everyone.
Okay, crap.
Don’t remove anything. Toast and cool some new onions and sprinkle them on the old (untouched) casserole. No one will know the difference.
I want some green bean casserole now, guess I’ll have to settle for my freshly baked Pumpkin Ginger bread. haha
It will be fine. Bring it in a Pyrex dish or casserole dish that can be microwaved and baked. Heat in the microwave. Remember to “stir” it once as I described above so it is heated through, it will only take 2–4 minutes depending how cold it is when you start. Then bake in the toaster oven to toast some new onions. In the toaster oven the element is very close to the pan so you cannot leave it out of your sight. It will probably be done in two minutes, burnt in 3.
Some toaster ovens are small and don’t fit typical baking pans. Before you add the new onions make sure your baking dish fits in it. If you can’t do the new onions don’t worry about it. Everyone knows what that dish is, so it doesn’t have to look fancy on top for people to eat it.
Let us know how it goes.
I thought it’s today? Did I mess up the days?
Those onions are supposed to be crunchy? I must have had “old” green bean casserole all my life, in that case. Okay, “both times”, then.
They’re not supposed to be crunchy inside the casserole.
Totally pick off the soggy. My sister would wait til the last possible minute to add the crunchy top.
I don’t mind soggy onions on casseroles.
