If you click on neither close friend nor aquaintance, rather, leave the person “nothing” what can he see or not, as compared to an “aquaintance” say?

S/he would be considered a friend and get what you share with friends.

@janbb is correct. To test this, go to:

Settings > Privacy > Timeline and Tagging > Who can see things on my timeline? > View as (on far right of this menu)

It will open your profile, with the option (at the top left of the page) to “View as specific person”. If you put in the name of someone who is neither a “Close friend” nor “Acquaintance”, you’ll be able to see what the uncategorized people can see.

I don’t tend to use the friend categories; as far as I know they are used for custom tags on posts, and might also influence what shows up in your newsfeed.
