When you make a mistake do you analyze it and learn from it, or do you quickly reverse the mistake and vow to never do it again?

About 80% of what I know about computers was learned either accidentally, or because I made a mistake. I analyze my mistakes and mark them for future needs.

What prompted this was that a moment ago I moved my cursor to the far right bottom of the screen, and lo! There was an option to view my desk top. I didn’t even know it was there. There used to be a paint brush icon, or something, that would take you to your desktop, but that seemed to have disappeared years ago. I’m glad I found it.

When we got our first computer in the mid-80’s, I had my two year old on my lap while I was working. The kid started banging on random keys and stuff started happening and lo! I discovered hot keys!

That seems like a false dichotomy. You can reverse the mistake, vow never to do it again and analyze it and learn from it. It sounds more like you’re asking about happy accidents.

Well, sure. But I know people, mainly older, who are scared to death to experiment on a computer! I don’t have that problem.

I usually overanalyze it, dwell on it, agonize about it, and try to not do it again.

My husband reverses or erases the mistake, forgets he ever made a mistake, leaves his belief that he is perfect intact, and moves forward.

I think somewhere in the middle is probably best.

It is common nature that the bigger the consequences of a mistake the greater the lesson learned.
Hence the problems of some in life as they have to go through many scenerios before learning ( relationships)etc
Once I make a mistake I try to correct it as soon as possible. In relationships I feared making a mistake so remained single. Do not want a replay of bad choices (partners) like in the past.
have learned to become more decerning and more about myself before inviting anyone else in my life which took a long time to process.
