Have you ever slept on top of the bed so that you did not need to make it in the morning?
In Boot Camp or living with strict parents?

Only a few times for just going to sleep late and having to wake up in a few hours to go back to work. But never for the sake of the appearance of a bed. This is an old parental mythology haha. The appearance of the bed has no effect on anything besides aesthetics to please guests. I leave my bed unmade because I’m a working adult and have bigger problems :/
No, but I did once put two slices of bread in the toaster but didn’t flick the switch.
Just wanted to frighten those bastards, that showed em who the daddy is.
I sometimes start out that way on the rare nights my bed is made but usually wind up snuggling under the sheet and cover sometime in the middle of the night.
I only make my bed when company is coming over.
I’ve done it when it’s really hot and you really don’t need covers.
My bed was self assembly so I just had to make it once.
I don’t make my bed either.
When my sister was little she went through a phase where she’d get dressed for school the night before, then sleep on top of her bed so she neither had to make her bed or get dressed in the morning!
Making a waterbed is super easy.
No.
I never understood why so many people have such difficulty straightening sheets and blankets. It takes me one minute to do this after I wake up.
No. I always sleep under the covers and agree with @jonsblond. It really isn’t a major hassle to make up a bed. It doesn’t take that long and it makes the bedroom much more inviting when it is time to go to bed again.
@jonsblond Some people are depressed. It takes me forever to make my bed.. I don’t make it because I’m going to go to nap in 15 minutes anyway. I stay in bed most of the day.
@talljasperman I’m also depressed and go back to bed once my daughter gets on her school bus. Quickly straightening the blankets makes my room more inviting and less depressing. One minute for a less depressing atmosphere. It’s pretty easy.
I went to my daughter’s apartment once because she sounded SO down. I walked in and the house was just a huge mess. I said, “No wonder you’re depressed!” And I started cleaning.
She watched me, then slowly started folding some clothes that were in laundry basket beside the couch. She slowly began to get a little more energy and at the end of an hour her house was clean and she felt so much better.
@Dutchess_III Exactly! I’m looking at a cluttered table and kitchen counters right now and it has me down. I’ve been running all day and would love to relax, but I’ll feel so much better if I take a moment to go and pick things up. gotta go, brb :)
No. I make my bed almost every day, with the occasional exception. I’m with @jonsblond and @Dutchess_III . I think keeping your living space tidy makes you feel better overall. I’m not OCD about perfection but prefer things nice for my own enjoyment.
I like getting into my made bed and it only takes about 45 seconds to pull up the covers in the morning, poof the pillows and lay out a few throw pillows.
Indeed a messy house only adds to depression. Clutter and a messy habitat leaves us feeling anxious, helpless and overwhelmed.
Edit: add: Can you make your bed while you are in it? Have you ever made your bed while you are sleeping in it? Am I the only person who does this?
Surely you jest! Make my bed?? That’s a rip-snorter!
However I do have a dim memory of sleeping on top of the covers when I was a kid and required to make my bed.
@talljasperman I’ve made my bed while I was still in it. I flop a bunch when I sleep. The top of the top sheet usually ends up on the side of the bed by the time I wake up in the morning. I need to arrange the sheets if I want to be comfortable. I do this often, even if I have no intention of getting out of bed soon. I don’t tuck corners or anything like that. I only straighten and make the bed look somewhat presentable and comfortable.
I simply don’t see a point of making the bed unless there is going to be company.
My “company beds” are kept made. Why not? Looks nice.
The bed I sleep in might have never been made. The one room of the house not on The Tour.
damn right.. in some places that I’m not familiar with. I’m attached to my own bed.
Make bed not war #hippypeacelovinlennonyokodaftbuggers
Now that winter has come I leave the blanket covered my bed so that it will keep the warmth for me.
Mildly interesting fact for ya, bed bugs flourish in a warm environment & so it’s best not to place the covers over the entire bed, rather, make the bed, but leave top covers/blankets/quilt drawn back.
Ewwww..bed bugs, i have never seen one in my life and hope I never do,
I’ve never seen a black woman’s vagina either, but know they most likely exist :D
@ucme That is nasty…shame on you. :-(
What the fuck are you on? Oh, never mind, I think I know.
Ok, so my point was that I too have never seen a bed bug, but know they exist.
Same as with my second answer, blatantly obvious example to clarify a point.
I encountered bed bugs once, at a hotel. Itchy little brats.
I pull the sheets back up when I get out of bed, but I don’t exactly consider that “making” it. I consider what my grandfather did every morning “making” the bed. That is spreading the sheets out, tucking everything in, making sure the entire thing is neat with little to no lumps, creases, etc.
@ucme I get it, and I normally love your spicy humor, but that was just gross. Carry on.
@Coloma I believe you shoulda said Keep Calm and Carry On, like the tee-shirt says.
I attended a boarding school for a couple years of my high school. Since we were required to have our beds made within 15 minutes of wake-up, I would carefully slip in between the sheets at night, careful not to pull the sheets and blanket ends out from under the mattress. Making the bed consisted of a couple minutes of adjusting and tucking, then place the counterpane over all,
