I haven’t called, texted, sent, or bought anyone anything for christmas.
I’m so tired of people telling me what to do due to some random tradition from hundreds of years ago that doesn’t matter.
None of this stuff is relevant. Do people even question why we do this stuff? People know they have debts and things to pay off, yet they go into more debt to appease their family for some electronic device.
2:30 am Christmas Day. Been on my feet baking since noon Christmas Eve. Just finished wrapping presents. Dad will be here to visit in 9½ hours.
If it hadn’t been for the visiting BBE (best boyfriend ever) I don’t think I would have bothered this year. On the 23rd of December, he walked 2km up a forested, snow-covered hill to a ‘nearby’ shopping center. Bought a 6 foot Christmas tree for me and my boy and proceeded to carry that sucker back down the hill in a snowstorm.
2 packages left to wrap. Stuff for the wife. Gotta do it while she sleeps. But first to the filling station. 3 AM, no lines! Safeway on the way home. Milk disappears fast when the Christmas cookies are around. Wonder if the supermarket is open at 3AM on Christmas morning. The never ending war between capitalism and sentiment. My money’s on the profit motive winning out.
I just wrapped all the presents except for the work friends, today, Christmas Day. I say everyone else is unwrapping in every house except for me. I’m wrapping. My daughter is at my parents’ house so I am going to join them all in a while. I’ve been running around so much lately, including last night, that I just have not had a chance to wrap. Also, when my daughter is here, I can’t wrap either.
Uh. Yeah. We bought NO presents this year. Hoping for a good payday soon so maybe we can do it in January.
