So, how did you enjoy New Year's Eve?
Was it any good? Anything interesting to share?

I had sort of computer dilemma yesterday. I rent a server from Kimsufu that basically torrents tv shows and movies and then it uses Plex to stream them to about 15 of my friends and family. Generally this works well.
But a few days ago Comcast doubled my download speed at home to 50Mbp/s. My initial excitement wore off fast when I discovered that peering to the plex server (in Canada) was completely destroyed. sFPT speed to the server was shot too. I was barely pulling 100KB/s so I was getting massive buffering in plex.
So I tried spinning up a droplet on Digital Ocean in the SF DC for better peering. In about 20 minutes I had a VPN going and this solved my slow speeds. But now I must use the VPN if I want to stream from my server in Canada.
While dealing with this my roommate said his Fire TV was having massive buffering too. It also connects to my plex server. The Fire TV doesn’t have a native way to use a VPN. Around this time my sister texts complaining of massive buffering.. She lives six miles away and also uses a Fire TV and Plex and Comcast.
Now I am fucked. And getting kinda pissed that people are getting upset about a service I provide for free that isn’t working. (I pay 30 a month for the server and never have asked for help with the bill)
And the worst part is I got the Fire TV for my sister for Christmas and a week later it stopped working.
Sooo… My only option is to get SPMC (fork of KODI/XMBC) with the PleXMBC plugin going on the Fire TV. This took a very long time.
Long story short. I didn’t even realize it was the 31st until my dickhole neighbors shot fireworks off. To make things even worse is that after spending all these hours getting the Fire TV’s to work the first fucking thing my sister watched was The.Real.World.S30E03.Three.Way.HDTV.x264-W4F FML…
I stayed home with my daughter and we watched the ball drop. Nice and warm and cozy and a bit boring but to her, she never saw the ball drop, I don’t think.
I can’t understand how or why the people in Times Square can stand there all day without going to the bathroom, and just being cold. Better them than me.
With family. Ate food, ate more food, played Scopa, watched a ball drop.
Got mildly tipsy with my parents and watched the ball drop while feeling very disappointed in American culture for deeming Jenny McCarthy an acceptable TV personality for the event.
(My booze made me a little angry that night for some reason, lol)
I was sick so went to bed at 9:30 PM. I hope this is not an omen as to how 2015 is going to be for me. LOL
Watched Men of Honor and Something Else. That is all.
My husband and I were both sick. We ate some homemade pepperoni pizza, watched Naked and Afraid reruns, and went to bed at 9:00, only to spend the next hour bitching about the noise outside. If we hadn’t been sick, our night would’ve gone pretty much the same way.
Yep, just another day. I don’t give two shits about getting drunk or watching a ball drop.
Went to two parties and got drunker than a battalion of Vikings. Beer, wine, whiskey and vodka shooters, some alcohol coffee thing, champagne at midnight. Then I went to lay down on a couch downstairs, didn’t fall asleep, got up and drank more. I was with my friend who did not want to sleep there, so we left at about 8 am for my place, drinking a bottle of beer each in the empty streets. Got to my place, we drank wine until 11:30 then finally went to sleep.
Woke up at fucking 5 pm, we were going to drink more, but we just couldn’t. We had one glass of scotch each, then it took me like 4 hours to drink one beer lol. We just sat around watching Halloween one to part four all evening with pizza.
Had a very good time but damn did I ever drink too much. Didn’t get sick though!
I used to be able to do that!
Sure as hell couldn’t do that every day. XD
I read a short blurb once about getting that kind of drunk. When you’re a kid and you see the sun come up, it’s a victory. When you’re an adult, it’s a failure. :( But I think you still qualify as a kid, so you go girl!
It was great. We stayed home with our children and played card games, including Cards Against Humanity with our adult sons. That game always has me in tears from laughter. We also watched some of Ryan Seacrest with our daughter, then went outside at midnight and let off fireworks.
the party is not over. my bday is sunday
@jonsblond I LOVE Cards Against Humanity. We’ll be playing it tomorrow night – game night with friends, woohoo. :)
Beer, great company, more beer, lots of games, yet more beer, tons of laughter &...did I mention beer yet?
@Symbeline Good god lady, don’t do that. That’s way too much.
@livelaughlove21 We went through the entire deck the first time we played. I can’t get enough of that game. :)
@Symbeline I’ve done stuff like that in the past. That I survived some of it is a miracle. But it does take it’s toll. I’m one of those If I had known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself peeps.
@jonsblond Omg I’m so glad to hear other families play cards against humanity together!! Hahaha I played it with my parents and my sister just after Christmas and, while mildly mortifying, it was loads of fun.
