Can you change the Caller-ID info in Google Voice?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33578points) January 2nd, 2015

Back in the middle ages, I got a Google Voice account and assigned phone number. Pretty cool – I like the fact that it does transcriptions and forwarding and all sorts of other things for no cost.

But someone told me that the outbound caller ID (that I send when I call someone with Hangouts) reads “202–456-1414 Washington DC” (that is not the number so don’t call it) as opposed to my real name, even though I signed up with my real name.

Does Google Voice let me set my own CallerID value?
