While I have never taken courses from the university you mentioned, I have done 2 papers via distance learning. It worked incredibly well for me, despite my hesitation, I surprised myself by exercising the degree of self-discipline necessary to undertake such study. For one paper especially I had a very available tutor who responded to e-mail contact very quickly. While there were student online forums available I did not use them but they could be useful for someone who wants contact with other students.

Are you talking about on-line classes? If so, it will depend on the specific course and its curriculum. It will, at minimum, require concentration, discipline and time-management. You will have to give up all-day fluthering.

Description of what it is like taking the distance learning class.

You are pretty broke as it is. $750 is a huge chunk of your monthly budget. You need to figure out what you want to go to school for before taking a random class. I am all for you going to school and I think it would be great for you.

But please talk to your case worker and someone at the school to figure out the best plan to get you back in school. There might be some options that could allow you to take the classes for free due to your circumstances. There are in the lower 48 so I would think Canada would have better/similar options.
