What is this file?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47069points) January 16th, 2015

I’m loading pics on to Facebook directly from my camera. Usually when I go to ad a pic it takes me to the last folder I accessed, but this time this came up. It’s full of stuff I’ve never seen before, and then there are the pictures I uploaded.

What is that KRKB7R?

It is the ‘unique’ directory name that the browser assigns to its cache folder. (You know what cache is, right?)

Anyway the browser needs to keep those temporary files somewhere, so when the browser fist opened up (at installation) it picked a random and unique set of letters as a directory name. And it uses that for cache forever.

If you told your browser to “Clear History”, and look again, the files that you saw woudl be gone.

Note: It’s a good idea to clear history about once a week.
