I'm struggling to decide which team to root for in the Super Bowl. Can you assist?
On the one hand, we have Seattle, which bumbled its way through yesterday’s game, and, based on its quality of play, shouldn’t have even been there in the stadium.
On the other hand, we have New England, which has a lot of history behind it and otherwise was a little better than mediocre this year. But not a powerhouse team. The strike me as a squad that feels “entitled”, and that hubristic attitude turns me away.
So who do I root for? I’m not enthused with either team.
About the only positive thing I can say is that with New England and Seattle playing each other, Interstate 90 is covered at both ends.

If my team is not in the game then I always root for the underdog. How could anyone not root for a 3rd string Quarterback to pull off that kind of upset over the Patriots.
Seattle does not belong there? You’re obviously basing that on one game. “Seattle finished as the NFL leader in both fewest points allowed (254, 15.9 per game) and yards allowed (4,274, 267.1 per game, the fewest for any NFL team since the 2009 New York Jets).” “Seattle also led the NFL in fewest passing yards allowed at 2,970 (185.6 per game) for the second consecutive season” The Seattle Times. As for Russell Wilson, the first three and a half quarters do not reflect his normal performance: “In fact, Russell Wilson has set an NFL record for the most regular season wins by a quarterback in their first three seasons in the league, with 34 victories.”
Somehow, Tom Brady almost seems Aryan in his arrogance. And Bellichek is a cheater. He could you root for them?
Resist the urge to root for either side.
What is there to gain by picking a side? The chance to sharpen our tribalism? The chance to buy into manufactured drama for the opportunity to watch grown men wear costumes and play a game?
Your struggle suggests apathy, why bother? Here endeth the lesson
I’m rooting for the puppies again this year. (Can’t get the link to work. 3:00 EST on Animal Planet.)
I can’t see pulling for a team that you didn’t care about yesterday.
Root for a high-scoring game with a tie score until the very last seconds.
Rootfor the Raiders. At least then you won’t be very surprised by the outcome, unless they win.
Just watch the commercials like Jesus intended.
Since the Dallas Cowboys are not playing in the Super Bowl I don’t give a crap. If I had to pick a team I would go for the underdog.
