Has a character ever had an impact in your thoughts/opinions?
An example of this would be the new rendition of Annie impacting a lot of young black girls, in that they get to see someone like them as the lead in a movie. It might have changed their opinion on themselves.
I’m wondering if a certain character – more specifically female characters and characters of minority groups—has ever done that to you, influenced you in any way. It can be from films, books, etc.

Sailor Jupiter raised my expectations in a mate to unreasonable levels.
Tiffany Maxwell from Silver Linings Playbook.
“I was a big slut, but I’m not anymore. There will always be a part of me that is sloppy and dirty, but I like that, just like all the other parts of myself. I can forgive. Can you say the same for yourself, fucker? Can you forgive? Are you capable of that?”
Spartacus. He was a Thracian in a Roman dominated world, but he didn’t let the almost certain prospect of a violent death stop him fighting for the slaves of Rome. A great man, who changed the lives of countless slaves throughout the Empire for the better.
In movies, definitely Ouiser from Steel Magnolias. “I’m not crazy M’Lynn. I’ve just been in a very bad mood for 40 years.”
In books, Jean Valjean from Les Miserables. Despite being relentlessly pursued by Police Inspector Jeauvert for much of his life, he remained true to his innermost nature, and continued to look for ways to help those around him, without regard to his own safety. His unhesitating willingness to carry the wounded Mario through the Parisian Sewers to a sympathetic doctor’s office is one of the best, strongest scenes from all of classical literature. Through the years I have often found myself asking the same question he does “who am I?”
