what i want to add, i know i’m going out of line but

WHY DOES EVERYONE START HAMMERING FLUTHER WITH IPHONE QUESTIONS INSTEAD OF CHECKING THE FORUMS OR JUST WAITING ?

why ? we know there are still some small bugs in the system, yet everyone starts yelling like crazy, god, all of the sudden i get 10 questions for me in an hour, why ? because people just ask fluther instead of checking online…

Why did they call it 3G anyway? It’s basically just the same phone with a new chip anyway, they ought to just call it iPhone 2 or something, now we have iPhone 2.0 which is both 1st Gen and 2nd Gen iPhones and iPod Touches, and then we have iPhone 3G, which I know is the kind of chip, but Apple got over naming their computers after the chip inside them when they switched to intel…I keep seeing it as G3 because I’m used to that in naming conventions- 3rd Generation.

Apple’s naming has been off a bit at the moment, MacBook Air, iPhone 3G… dumb names in my opinion.

@iwamoto: Considering Apple’s performance over the weekend I wouldn’t be suprised if there were a load of confused customers… besides half their website still doesn’t link anywhere… i’m look at you iPod Touch update link…

It’s the network, not the chip.

What “people” call it the “G3” ? (link, proof, whatever..)

I’ve yet to hear that one…

bluemukaki's avatar

@PupnTaco: It’s called 3G because it has a new chip which uses 3G networks, its named for the hardware changes which let people use the netowrk… said that in a stupid way before…my bad…

@XCNurse: Good point… Where did you hear this, joeysekifa?

It may also be the generation issue.

I know that people have been calling iPods by generations (5g added video).
Maybe the world is dyslexic (3G vs G3)!

3G cell service is faster than the 2.5G service that was the pinnacle of yesteryear. I don’t know about a comparison to the high-speed service of the CDMA (think Verizon).

Well I mean that’s why I’m asking because he says ‘G3’ in title, but 3G in the body so…
He says he understands the 3G networking idea, but I don’t know if it was a mistype for G3 in title or not lol

@Bluemukaki and XCNuse all over fluther; i cant provide a link right now (i’m on an ipod) but i’ll look later

I actually can’t see this anywhere on Fluther… maybe you’re freaking out?

..pretty sure that is a typo..

“I had this issue with my new iPhone- I took it in to the Apple store and the guy at Apple said that on G3 network often it wont ring. I turned off G3 in network preferences and phone now rings.

So far I am not impressed with G3.”

Here it is again

At lest the saying “g3” isn’t like some news reporters say, The 3 gigabyte iPhone!
