What should I eat that I can actually taste?

I’ve had this cold thing on and off for about 4 weeks now. During that time I’ve had bouts of not being able to taste anything at all, having some things that I usually enjoy tasting terrible, and a general subdued taste of everything (right now).
You all know that I love food, so this whole business is kind of getting me down. I’ve tried upping the spice level, adding hot peppers and more condiments like mustard, but nothing seems to work : (
Do any of you guys have any (vegetarian) ideas for what I can eat that won’t make me gag or bore me to tears?
I’m going out to lunch at California Pizza Kitchen with some friends today, for our last Xmas celebration that was postponed because of me being sick for so long. Looking forward to the company, but feeling kind of bummed knowing that I won’t be able to enjoy the food.
The only flavor that I seem to be able to taste is sweet, but I’ve recently lost 20 lbs. and I don’t want to load up on donuts and chocolate.

Interesting question. I’ve found that over time, I taste more and more when I’m sick – so I’m not sure that my suggestions will work for you. But lately my favourite thing to eat when I’m sick is some variation on Tom yum soup with a bagel and cream cheese. The flavour of the cream cheese comes out against the soup, and vice versa. And the soup is so hearty. Great stuff.
If you’re finding that sweet things taste good, but don’t want to have anything too heavy, maybe pick up some sorbet? The flavours are usually quite powerful, and while they’re sweet, they’re very low in fat. It won’t make a meal, but might break the monotony.
Hmmm. I’d look for things with cinnamon and/or ginger. Those are strong enough to cut through dulled taste buds.
Or, how about a curry? A good curry will awaken your tongue and also clean out your sinuses.
@dappled_leaves I love Tom yum soup when I’m sick!
@Kardamom I’m sorry that you are feeling so bad. Perhaps don’t eat; just drink something?
How about this?
Looks perfect to me!
There are a number of variations of garlic soup that are purported to cure colds. I’d look at those recipes and see if there’s something you like.
Thanks everybody. I did have Tom Kha soup last week and I was able to taste that. Maybe time for some more of that. I’ll also try the ginger and cinnamon, maybe have some toast with that.
I had a burrito last night and loaded it up with hot salsa and jalapeƱos. Unfortunately it tasted like This
I think the garlic idea is good too.
