Can you name some "Super Bowl foods," and why do you associate it with the Super Bowl?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47126points) February 1st, 2015

My answer is 7 layer dip, which I’m making today. Not sure why I associate it with the Super Bowl (hoping ya’ll can shed some light on it,) but it just is.

Another would be Little Smokies.

Chili and cornbread, because I’ve seen many other people eat it during the Super Bowl. Perhaps it has to do with foods that have become “Americanized,” like Hamburgers/Hot Dogs.

I just think of snack food. Chips, dip, maybe some wings. As I get older I get less able to eat all of that stuff all at once. Blech.

Chicken wings, nachos, pizza, chips and ranch dip. Usually foods served at Super Bowl parties are meant to be easy to grab and eat while sitting on a couch or the floor or at a counter, rather than at a more formal table sitting.

@ucme Do you mean deviled eggs? I could see that, or do you mean fried eggs or scrambled eggs? Now I’m craving eggs.

Do forgive me, I should clarify, eggs as in the ball.
Also, a jolly hot, steaming bowl of soup.

Now I gotta start a soup thread. Thanks @ucme : )

Chips and dip, chicken wings, beer. Seems to be the traditional/stereotypical super bowl food. It’s not as big here in Canada as it is in the US, but when it comes to big important hockey games, we have pretty much the same thing. Plus pizza. But mostly just beer.

Fried Chicken Liver with Onions on thin french bread slices and homemade Onion Soup from scratch (roasting shin bones and then putting onions on the for the last hour). Because that is what we would do with my dad, forty years ago.

Teriyaki Wings because… chicken love football.

I forgot about sweet and sour meatballs in the crock pot, and baked meatball sandwiches. And those Big Submarine Sandwiches and guacamole and tortilla chips.

I always think of chili in bowls and chips and salsa.

Same as snacks at a poker game, can’t have more than one syllable. Like chips, or dip, or pretz -

Never mind.

I love those tiny little hot dogs in BBQ sauce. It seems we only have those for Superbowl. Coming in close behind is/are massive quantities of White Castle burgers.
