Is there really stuff behind waterfalls?

In movies, video games, books…there’s always the classic case of waterfalls concealing something. Treasure, a secret entrance to some old ass ruins, stuff like that. I think we’ve all seen that at least once.
But is this idea based off of anything? Did someone in real life ever actually find something behind a waterfall? Are there any records of this happening? What was found?
Also, if it was a very large waterfall, wouldn’t the pressure injure and/or kill you if you attempted to pass through?

Take a look. Occasionally they turn off Niagara Falls for maintenance.

Better answer – Black swifts hide their nests behind waterfalls.

I think I saw a David Attenborough Nature episode where they filmed a bird going in and out of the waterfall.
I have seen some shallow caves behind waterfalls, but that was about it,
@jaytkay My knee jerk reaction was YOU CAN’T TURN OFF NIAGARA FALLS! But I guess you can. It’s crazy….all the money they must have spent to divert it, then run out of money to simply bulldoze the rocks away.
@Symbeline I went behind the Falls in Niagara. There was a magical leprechaun offering sweets and treasures. I started to go to him and my nonbeliever “friends” pulled me back by the belt on my rain jacket. Screw adults and nonbelievers.
That’s flipping awesome!, @jaytkay. Never heard of it, and those were amazing pictures.
I was thinking along more practical, recent events at the falls.
A chest with either 100 rupees or a Piece of Heart.
I bet it was Superman who drained Niagara back then, scooped all that water in his cape, flew off to tend a rather large forest fire. Just has to be.
I think it was just some nice idea someone came up with, like an enchanted forest and such.
Mostly what I have found are small shelter caves, nothing substantial.
