Are US and UK bra sizes the same?

Asked by DrasticDreamer (23996points) February 9th, 2015

As asked. For example, is a 36D in the UK the same bra size as a 36D in the US?

Not according to this It would seem in the US a 36D would be a 36C.

So it looks like the US cup size is different.

No, but even in the US bra sizes vary a little. The best is to try on, or find out the measure for the specific brand. For instance, Wacoal uses 4 inches over the actual back measure for the band size and then 1 inch difference for bust measure is an A cup, 2 inches B cup, and so on. Many vendors add 5 inches for band size.

Start with this calculator here.

UK v. US

(Sizing will vary via brand, just as most things tend to do.)

UK sizes are different from US sizes, but the biggest issue is fitting. The US bra industry is a joke. I could go on and on about how inaccurate it is, but I’ll spare us all. Be prepared to have a drastically different size if you use the calculator above. I previously wore a 36C and when I went this route, I jumped to a 32FF (and in reality, I can sister size to a 28GG). Sounds insane, but the fit is a billion times better.

*To avoid confusion, I’ll note that I gained a little in the bust which explains the size jump.

Sister sizes

Also good, if you delve into the world of happy boobies.
