Have you heard the tv ad speaking of Botox injections to the bladder? What are they for?

Asked by Aster (20028points) February 9th, 2015

I think it sounds extremely risky. I can imagine thousands of people letting them inject their bladders, an infection forms inside and then we get to “If you had bladder injections and died you may be entitled to a reward.”
What are these for and do you recommend them?

It’s an FDA approved treatment for overactive bladder.

Common side effects reported during clinical trials included urinary tract infections, painful urination, and incomplete emptying of the bladder (urinary retention).

So you trade overactive bladder for at least one other problem?
Makes good sense to me!

@Aster You trade one problem with the possibility of another problem. And a UTI can be treated easily.
