Servants. Who needs bells when you have a doorman?

^ Well, quite…this was more for the peasants out there, y’know?

I have a two-stage system: You push a button to ring a bell inside, but that just serves to trigger the real alert mechanism, my pit bull.

So I guess you could say you arouse my pit.

You’d walk in the back door.

We have a bell, a real bell metal that you jangle. However, nobody ever jangles the bell because the canine door alerts go off as soon as you touch the front gate which is a good 30 plus meters away. The canine door alert system is becoming a tad inefficient since they’re pretty old now and seem to sleep more deeply.

There’s a pager thing but I don’t think it works. Even if you tried, I don’t know how to work it. You’re better off calling me on the phone so I can come down and open the door.

My very young builders forgot to install a bell or chimes. Mine was their first house. So it’s knock and wait. Besides, everyone comes through the attached garage to door that enters from kitchen/dining area. Rap rap rap.

Often if I am out of ear shot and not expecting you, it helps to call me.

They also forgot to add outdoor spigots for a hose, but I did insist they add those before I bought the house.

Yeah, what difference does it make anyway? You all keep your doors open after all!

gailcalled's avatar

^^ Unlocked but not open, due to cat’s need to leave and mice and raccoons and squirrels need to enter.

@gailcalled You can get a computer chip that allows your cat and only your cat to open the cat door.
