Safest way to remove latex paint?

Asked by syz (36034points) February 10th, 2015

Bah! I didn’t get my shutter painting done in time for it to dry before the rain. Now I have bright blue drips of paint running down my pale yellow siding. Scrubbing with soap and water and bleach only lightened it. What’s the best way to remove the paint without ruining the finish of my siding?

What material is the substrate? The easiest thing is probably just to repaint.

Try Goo Gone.

And large hardware stores carry a graffiti remover that might help too. It’s worth a try.

If you have the paint, it would be cheaper and simpler to repaint than to buy the cleaning stuff, which will mess with the paint surface a little bit and make you want to repaint anyway, to make a clean transition to the old paint.

Goof Off or Goo Gone. Either will remove LATEX paint.
