What's the key for "almost 100% sure", and for "every"?

Asked by gysfl (4points) February 12th, 2015

I mean just like the ”&” is shorthand key for the word “and” and things like that. If you have a link that would be appreciated.

There isn’t one. The ampersand goes back thousands of years. It wasn’t just invented for keyboards.

@ also goes back into ancient history, along with #, $, %, +, =.

“Almost” = 99.9%. “Every” = 100%

@Dutchess_lll Of course they were invented long long ago. But I thought there are keys not just for shorthand purposes but can and have been used for a shorthand too since the computers came along.

@kritiper looking for one key to replace “99.9%” , which is 5 keys.

(You kinda blew your cover there, @flo)!

I use tilde ”~” to mean “about”. I am ~100% sure others do too.

Or, to me, ~ for more or less. (Same thing.)

Set up a macro on your keyboard, one button to do it.

Dutchess_III's avatar

How do you set up a a macro @XOIIO.

talljasperman's avatar

1 is equal to 100 percent.

Thanks all.
Should all keyboards have the tidle key?
Here is how to set up macro page:

@talljasperman and @talljasperman I don’t understand “1equals 100%”, or “1000”?

talljasperman's avatar

1.00 is all at one hundred percent. .50 is 50%

flo's avatar

@talljasperman I still don’t get it. maybe soon.
@Dutchess_III I meant @talljasperman and @Dutchess_III above.

Kburger's avatar

I don’t really think there is any for those specific ones hey, 99.9% is probably the closest you will get lol

Dutchess_III's avatar

1, 10, 100, 1000, 10,000, etc. are all how do I put this… one full increment. You get one pizza, It can be cut in half, at .05. 10 pizzas can be cut in half at .5. 100 pizzas can be cut in half at 50. We just customarily use 100 for 100%.

Thanks for the scripting info, @flo.

@Dutchess_III You’re welcome.

@Kburger , @LuckyGuy , @kritiper
Edited: “99% sure”, i.e not 100% sure, about x, so people should verify for themselves. How to shorten it by replacing the “99% sure” (8 keys) or just “99%” (4 keys) with one key. Not possible I guess?

talljasperman's avatar

”+ – ” Plus or minus

kritiper's avatar

@flo How about ”>” and ”=.”

JLeslie's avatar

I’d use a tilde.

flo's avatar

Tidle seems to be the one key answer. I guess it’s rare but there are boards without the tidle key.

JLeslie's avatar

@flo If the board doesn’t have a tilde, usually there is still a way to make one it is just a little more complicated.

flo's avatar

@JLeslie What is the complicated way?

Dutchess_III's avatar

Character mapping, probably @flo.

JLeslie's avatar

@flo It depends on the software and/or computer. Like on one computer if mine I can do accent marks by holding down a few keys at once. I can’t remember the combination. Shift, alt, not sure. I just used the help thingy in word. There also are symbol thingies you can use.

@JLeslie good to know.
