As asked by my 8 year old. I couldn’t decide.

All depends where these would be located. I guess two small ones could be dealt with more easily? Is your little one trying to break the news to you before you see it in the wash?!
Well, I thought that too but I think we must place all the stains in full view, otherwise there is no problem.
I don’t think there is a laundry problem for me…
Two smaller stains, they can be company for each other & be named Smudge & Blotch
I see a kids TV show on the horizon.
GAK!
Do the two smaller stains match?
—Can I pretend a pattern?
What kind of shirt?
—Can I slip my arms out, spin my shirt, re-insert my arms and wear it backwards with jacket?
Is the single stain shaped like anything? Jesus? Florida?
—Can I pass it off as art?
Lastly. Can I just go back to bed and not worry about it until later?
One larger. When I wash it I know it’s all one stain and it will either come out, or not.
With two smaller stains, you could add more and pretend that there is a deliberate pattern.
I prefer whichever staining has the smaller total area.
I.e., if the combined area of the small stains is less than that of the large one, then I prefer the former and vice versa.
I’m such a slob that I wish I had one of those two to pick. I usually end up with three big stains by the end of the day.
Depends on what kind of stain it is!
Oddly:
You know how they say you only have one shot at getting a stain out? That once you’ve washed and dried something with a stain, you’re SOL?
Lately I’ve been having ‘Two’s the Charm.’ I notice the stain, I wash, stain still visible. I was again and the stain disappears! Happened at least 3 times lately, wash and dry each time.
