What do you want to toot your own horn about?

I’m so bad this question gave me a strong desire to toot my own horn. For days, I’ve been so proud of something, but telling my husband about it wasn’t satisfying enough. So I’ll brag here.
We went to a somewhat upscale restaurant with my 4 year old daughter. I was terrified of how she was going to act because this was exactly the kind of place you don’t take kids (our dinner mates suggested this place and wanted my daughter to come) But everyone commented on my daughter’s awesome manners and conversational skill. She said please and thank you in all the right places and when the grownups left her out she said “Excuse me. I would like to be included in the conversation.” Then she talked about Elsa from frozen for a while and was pretty quiet the rest of the evening. I was proud of her and our dinner guests complimented my parenting skills based on her behavior.
Tooot Tooot!
Your turn.

I’m not “Cheryl” but I’ve been proud lately of how I’ve come through some really rough times in the last few years and now feel much more capable and able to thrive as an independent woman.
And GQ by the way.
Great question! (But now I have pictures of your naked kid singing to herself, all mixed up with nice manners!)
I’ll try and think of something.
Well, I’m above average when it comes to computer skills in Word, Excel, etc. Two summers ago I created a spread sheet for Judi. She manages property and she said they have, like, 15 forms to fill out by hand, every time a new tenant came in.
The spreadsheet I created allows folks to enter information, one time, on one master form, and it autofilled all the other 15 forms. Saved them SO much time!
I was pretty proud of that.
@keobooks Great parenting. You deserve a toot.
@janbb You have. And I’ve noticed. Toot.
@Dutchess_III I love a good spreadsheet. I’ve made some that I’m proud of. Good job. Toot.
Tooting my own horn is hard for me. Recently I reached out to someone who I knew was having a tough time. She thanked me and said it meant a lot to her. It’s hard for me to initiate any socialization, especially something so private and emotional. So, yay me.
Quite a lot as it goes, but not here, not like this.
Nothing, any good thing I did worth tooting is because He gave me the opportunity and the ability to do it, so I can’t take credit for none of that to go tooting about it.
The girl I lost my virginity to keeps facebooking me saying in twenty years she has never found a better lover
I was starving and found some pancake mix… I had a really good pancake smothered in syrup.
I deadlifted 190 lbs (1.5x my body weight) on Friday. I plan to reach my first big goal of 200 lbs in about a month. Toot toot. :)
How about excluding me. I have a post graduate degree and I look like a model.
Yeah ,after 26 years Mrs Squeeky and I are still going strong.
I’m a good daughter. It feels good to know that my father can count on me for emotional support when he needs it.
I had my first guitar lesson last week. I’ve practiced playing cords a number of times this week (badly I’ll grant you, but I’m trying!)
This is my third year of tutoring at college, but this year my boss asked me to also become the team leader for the tutoring center. This means I’ve taken on a lot more hours and, just last weekend, a tutoring conference was held at my school, which was attended by colleges across New England, and I organized the whole thing over the course of four months with the help of two other people. It went off without a hitch, and I’m proud.
There are people at this school who probably wouldn’t pass their classes without me. I tutor probably 10–15 people every week.
I don’t feel appreciated. I get paid to tutor, and the students I tutor thank me, but at the end of the day it still feels like nobody knows who I am. I go home, put less effort into my own school work than I’m putting into helping people with theirs, I do all the dishes that are in the sink because my roommates have a harder courseload than I do right now and could use the help, and yet still end up on the receiving end of my roommates’ grumpiness or bullshit emotional problems, and get made to feel uncomfortable in my own home.
I’m still proud of myself just for even being able to do college at all because of the medical problems I’ve overcome, but of course nobody around here knew me back then so they don’t realize it’s a big deal unless I talk about my past, but if I do that I just feel annoying and like I’m, well…tooting my own horn.
I don’t have the confidence yet to go without getting tooted every now and then, and I know that’s obnoxious and I feel crummy for it.
@Mariah I think the occasional toot is quite allowable; it’s the people who need to toot in every remark they make that are objectionable.
I dated a guy who worked for NASA—10 years before I ever even met him. He had to bring up NASA in almost every conversation he had with me or anyone else. He wasn’t just tooting his own horn, he was playing his own brass band ALL THE TIME. That was annoying.
I think lots of people fear they will sound braggy if they say too much good about themselves. I think it’s not only fine—but NECESSARY now and then. Most people don’t know what to pat you on the back about. I think it’s good to tell them now and then.
I paid off a boat load of bills with the $3500 that Rick thought he was going to use to get new tires for the RV! Too late!
Well nothing personal and there are still a couple reasons to be miffed about it but I ended up needing to get a new car and got one I really wanted and it’s in pretty good shape. A couple issues but it’s not bad. It’s the one car I could afford without going into a load of debt from most of the racing games I grew up playing XD

Have a pushbar in the trunk waiting to be installed to make it look bad ass lol. (and it will look less like a cop car around here since local cops don’t use them)
@XOIIO Are you tooting your own or the car’s horn? :-)
Lol, well I did replace it since the low tone was out and it sounded like a damn smart car, so either.
@XOIIO
”...it will look less like a cop car….”
So you’re not going to get the front and back ends painted black? ;-o
If those are moveable sidelights that I’m seeing in the photo, I hope you keep them: they’re great for checking addresses and street signs when you’re lost.
Yup, used them a few times already and will tonight to shovel some snow out of the way in the back alley. I got this over an 08 for the same sort of price since it had these and doesn’t have DBW. The car is pretty much how I want it aside from the pushbar (go rhino) and a supercharger at some point lol, and LED light conversions.
If I get another one at some point I’ll want dual spotlights again though it is uncommon, I’m a sucker for symmetry. Frame on this is a tad rusty as well as some on the fenders (mostly on the inside edge but drivers front has some starting on the side that I need to get taken care of asap. An auction one from cali would be in better shape rust wise. but you don’t really know it’s condition This just needs a bit of work done on the tie rods but they aren’t really bad, just a bit loose on one side.
Cops here are all white with decals so that would look even less like local cops really lol. I like the all black with white doors and roof though.
