Does the recent terrorist attacks in Europe affect your opinion of the Palestinian Israeli conflict?

Asked by JLeslie (65790points) February 18th, 2015 from iPhone

I just wondered if the jellies who tend to defend the actions of the Palestinians and see the Israelis as the aggressors, if maybe seeing the aggression and violence against free speech and Jewish people by these radical terrorists possibly causes you to change your views or maybe reinforce them? Same with jellies who adamantly defend Israel? Or, maybe you see it as totally separate from the conflict.

No, it doesn’t change my mind at all. Either way.

The French and Danish attacks aren’t specifically Palestinian-connected. THey’re more of “defending Islam in general” as opposed to anything specific to the palestinians.

I read something a month or two ago that said, basically, that the Arab world has lost interest in the Palestinians – the Palestinians have played the same tune for so long – and had so many chances to change things – that no one takes them seriously any more.

But to directly answer the question – no.

There are always going to be destitute bitter people with a “cause”. When the “cause” amounts to a grudge against those who appear better off and indifferent, the consequences are pretty much predictable. The never ending cycle of suicide bombings and accelerating incidents of terrorism are at heart about the frustrations involved with the “have nots” perception that their misery is the result of persecution at the hands of their “betters.” Those on the receiving end of these attacks make the mistake of accepting the motives proffered by the terrorists, and thus miss the point. To illustrate this, let’s consider the question.

If the Palestinians possessed a vibrant economy with everyone working and a decent shot at a tolerable existence, who would give a hoot about the existence of Israel? This analogy can be applied to every conflict in our crowded world. Fanatics have a tough time garnering recruits from a population where everyone’s working and a man can feed his family. “Happy men don’t volunteer”.

I really don’t see how these incidents in Europe are at all relevant to the evil tactics Israel is using against ordinary Palestinians, including bulldozing people’s homes.

These guys in Europe are evil scum. They should be hunted by the police and prosecuted. Terrorists in Palestine are evil scum and should be hunted by the police and prosecuted. I think Netanyahu is evil too and should be prosecuted for war crimes (like collective punishment).

No, I don’t think of them as being connected at all.

I do not automatically equate acts of muslim extremism with Palestinians even in cases such as this where Jews were obviously targeted.

Acts such as these neither reinforce nor challenge my perceptions of the ongoing Palestinian/Israeli conflict.

The Palestians want to live in the Stone Age. Israel should let them. I have no sympathy for the Palestians in the least.

Nope. Why should it?
