If nothing else it leaves our complete withdrawal timing in question. It would see, a good idea to keep our enemies guessing about out military strategy. It also allows us the flexibility to withdraw or delay withdrawal as conditions change. Part of military strategy not doing what the enemy expects. We’ll see how our surprise attack works in Mosul.
Yes, I think the announcement was good even if we didn’t mean it.
I think that there needs to be a civil war between the Shiite and the Sunni’s. In fact that’s what is happening. They have to settle their pseudo-religious differences if there is ever to be peace in the Middle East. We have nothing to gain standing between the two parties that are fighting a 700 year war.
We took away the dampening forces of, Saddam Hussein, Omar Qaddafi, and the Syrian government. We have become the scapegoat and the force between the parties.
If we leave, the middle east will fall apart and, to me, that’s a good thing. Right now most of the countries are forced tribal alliances. Maybe splitting up the governments into tribal regions is the best way to eliminate ISIS and restore some semblance of peace in the region. Until then we should let them fight their own wars.
I say get our troops and or weapons out of the region as immediately. We are defeated and will remain so. Just accept this.
