If we had a "Take your Jelly to work day", what jelly would you wish to job-shadow?

Can someone fill me in on what @syz, @rocketguy and what @jerv do for a living? Also, @SavoirFaire and @Thorninmud while you’re at it.

I know what @lucky guy and @Simone do. So far, I think (from what I know) they’d be tops on my list. I love hearing college lectures. @lucky Guy I think is fascinating anyway.

I’d like to tour the Canadian highways with squeeky.

I’d like to spend a day shadowing @ragingloli because I have not idea what ze does to make a living.

After that, I’d like to spend time in the lab with @dappled_leaves because I’d like to spend time with her and if I could travel back in tie, with @thorninmud when he was a patissier. Barring that, I could be interested in shadowing him to see his work now.

Lastly, I’d like to shadow Milo because i’ve always wanted to know how to kill a mouse.

@jca To the best of my knowledge, syz is in charge of a veterinarian hospital, Lucky Guy has his own engineering company, SavoirFaire teaches philosophy and thorninmud designs equipment for the physically challenged. I think jerv works with computers or something mechanical.

I might not be right on all of these.

I think of all the things that are done here, the one that I would like to learn the most is to make soap, which @cazzie does. It may sound simplistic, but I would love to learn it.

ucme and Adirondackwannabe. I admit though, that’s mostly because I just want to hang out with them.

I’d love to see what @LuckyGuy is building and hear him explain it. Although, I’m guessing he’s in the sort of work that needs some minor clearances and probably a bunch of signed documents just to get in the door. Totally worth it.

I’d love to see what the old fluther dev crew is up to. Especially @richardhenry, just because he always had a little bit of snark in his projects.

I’d like to see Milo’s boarding cabin, because I seem to remember a picture at some point, and it looked amazing.

Really I’d like to see anyone’s work that they’re proud of.

I think @Adirondackwannabe sounds like a fun guy, but I know what he does because it’s what my dad does, and it’s a boring job PLUS extremely grueling this time of year.

A note about job-shadowing @jerv:
I don’t have a decent idea of what he does, and that the reason I chose him. It’s obviously technical and manual at the same time – it’d be interesting/helpful to see exactly what he does.

I’d hope that the job-shadowing would include meeting the families of the jellies, and perhaps a glimpse at the home life if everyone was comfortable with that.

Oddly, visiting the jellies we personally like the least would probably be the most productive visits, if the least productive posts, here. lol

I’d have a longer list for those I’d enjoy having tea and conversation with.

But then feelings get hurt, @gailcalled. There are very very few jellies I would hesitate to meet face-to-face for a tea/coffee/beer/pop. As is usual in life, we would probably learn the most from those we know (here) the least.

Ideally, it would be a large informal summer party with everyone in attendance, no name tags. It’d be fun to see if we gravitate to the same people in person.

I remember in the back in the days of Fluther glory, there was talk about a big Fluther party or convention. Unfortunately, with us scattered all over the globe, it would be close to impossible to offer everyone the chance to meet all at once but it would be fun. There’d be lots of mirth and merriment.

No party for me but a low-key tête-à-tête.

I want to follow @Les the next time she travels to Antarctica.

She’s a meteorologist/atmospheric scientist and she’s been to Antarctica twice to measure stratospheric ozone. She’s also Fluthered from Antarctica.

I agree, @jca. It would be fun to guess who-is-who and see how often you were right and wrong.

We’re all thinking that we’d know that jelly 75%+ of the time, and that might even be the case.

Longgone as we both work with dogs so it would be interesting to see how her days compare to mine and share ideas.
