Do you think Fluther should have a "Hall of Fame" page?

Asked by Eragon4535 (192points) February 25th, 2015

Just a hypothetical question. Here are the details on how it could be run.

It would simply be a place were we could remember the most famous jellies or mods. It would be a community vote, of course, and it would act like an actual hall of fame. It wouldn’t be based purely on liver but mostly how those jellies have affected the Fluther community.

Yes. .. and we should bring back interviews in the blog.

You could start a thread.

I would rather have a hall of infamy

Eragon4535's avatar

@ragingloli that could easily be included just switch up the name a bit.

@Eragon4535 “Wouldn’t be based purely on liver?” What else would it be based on – spleen?

I would be more interested in a running list of the “disappeared”, those “regulars” who have left us for other pursuits. It’s an iffy proposition of course since there is clearly no way of determining whether those active here have vanished permanently. Yet there would certainly be an advantage in determining the overall health of the place if there were some method of determining which and how many stars have “winked out” as well the number “winking in”.

@janbb… Ha ha ha! I think it should be purely based on uterus.

How ‘bout a Hall of absurdity, for the funny, bizarre and unusual questions and maybe a Hall of trolls page too.

Berserker's avatar

I’m up for the infamy thing.

ucme's avatar

Infamy, infamy, they all got it in for me :D

There’s no need.
You can go to any jelly’s profile page and see their greatest questions and answers.
Anything wider would just be a popularity contest heavily weighted in favor of the jellies that have worked to build a cadre of like-minded members given to reciprocal lurve.

I agree with @janbb that liver is a poor baseline, in any case. Perhaps Vitameatavegamin?

I’d enjoy a hall of fame for funny/awesome question threads more than one for people.

Berserker's avatar

@ibstubro Yeah. The only slight issue there is some members having some of their info on private. Otherwise I’d say that’s spot on.

ucme's avatar

Maybe a Half of Lame not completely filled with dross, but very much working toward that aim.

ibstubro's avatar

@Symbeline How did you know that I literally called up your profile and reviewed your ‘greatest’ before I posted that answer?
I had to make sure before posting.

Coloma's avatar

I think there should be a “Jelly Jerk” award too, for the most obnoxious jellies.

ucme's avatar

I like the idea of positive stuff being added, not going to happen of course, but it’s an idea.
Some of the miserable bastards here would probably love a negative, thumbs down type button, suits their tiny minds.

ibstubro's avatar

The absolute best feature that Askville ever added was an ignore button.
It didn’t alter any user’s experience but your own: if there was a member you couldn’t agree to disagree with, you could simply stop their posts from appearing in your feed.
I only used it once, and that was on some old troll that believed vinegar could literally cure any human ailment, quoted Bible verse on all questions (including gaming and social) and had a penchant for following me around, responding to my every post. I didn’t care what he said or did, I just didn’t want to be subjected to his second-hand idiocy.
I noticed that shortly after they instituted the ignore feature, he stopped using the site. Apparently so many people ‘ignored’ him that he had no one to annoy and his fun was done.

Disclaimer: This is not a veiled reference to anyone on Fluther, and I personally cannot think of a Fluther member I would ignore. However, it seems like it would resolve some long standing animosities here.

ucme's avatar

^ I agree with the principle, but I think the argumentative among us actually enjoy confrontation, seek it out wherever possible. They would be loath to deny themselves that dubious pleasure, rendering any ignore button largely impotent.

ibstubro's avatar

^ Having some old nut following you around with a bottle of vinegar in one hand and a Bible in the other gets real old, real quick. People don’t have to agree, but some sanity and respect go a long way.

ucme's avatar

I’d imagine it would, but more widespread approval could prove futile, as reasoned above.

Berserker's avatar

@ibstubro You fibber, you didn’t look at my profile. :p or if you did, I really didn’t know

ibstubro's avatar

Seriously. To make sure I wasn’t mistaken about ‘Greatest Q & A’ I quickly opened your profile to double check, @Symbeline.

Berserker's avatar

I really didn’t know. How would I? Dude, this is some creepy ass bidniss. XD

Strauss's avatar

Maybe a “Hall of Shame!”

ibstubro's avatar

Coincidence, @Symbeline. But funny.
