Obviously this is a developing story, but I figured there should be a discussion about it.

It’s not unheard of for Putin’s critics to be mysteriously murdered. Anna Politkovskaja, an anti-Putin journalist was gunned down in October 2006, and Alexander Litvinenko, another Putin critic, was poisoned with polonium a month later.
Boris Nemtsov, as leader of an opposition party, may have met the same type of fate.

Of course. Not directly – probably through 2–3 layers of people. But Putin’s dirty hands are in there somewhere.
Putin is bringing back all of the bad parts of the Soviet state, inch by inch.
I would bet at least one bar of gold pressed latinum on it.
It appears to be an obvious suicide.
I’m going to agree with @elbanditoroso on this one, but love @Jaxk little bit of sarcasm as well.
Nah, It was Claudine Longet having another misfire.
Nope, mere coincidence, are if done by Putin supporters, he had no knowledge.
@elbanditoroso Putin’s Russia, unlike the bungling Soviet Union is an UNDISGUISED straight up gangster operation, where the machinery of the state is entirely at the behest of the “outfit”. There is barely a pretense of legality regarding any matter of consequence to the “boss”, and absolutely no relief ANYWHERE for those on the wrong side of his disposition.
I think the idea has legs if you enjoy Bond movies a little too much.
Quite possibly. Or someone who wants it to look like Putin was behind it.
Good news- Putin has announced that he will personally oversee the investigation, according to ABC news.
Now we know what the outcome will be- Putin’s “investigation” will find Putin innocent of all charges!
It is quite certain that the killer is a chechen, I think nobody doubt it, and chechens are Putin’s favorite assasins. And he benefits from that murder, for he eliminated the most powerful opposition leader. As all investigations are under his control, he takes no risk.
I would be shocked if it were proven otherwise. To my mind, the only questions involved in the issue would revolve around distinguishing between the murders he personally ordered, and those requiring his personal approval in advance. But not a single one of those so dispatched expired minus Putin’s foreknowledge of their impending doom.
