Do you think Michael Keaton was robbed?

He was amazing in Birdman.
And it did not take him 12 years to make.

If you are referring to the Academy Awards, no. Eddie Redmayne was outstanding and deserved the win.

If you’re not, do be more specific, there are a boatload of groups giving awards.

Michael Keaton was amazing but Eddie Redmayne was more amazing. I was delighted he got the award.

I was also very glad that Birdman got the best picture award because I thought it was. Not sure what your reference to Boyhood has to do with anything in this question.

No, he was Batma…shit, read it wrong again.
No, Redmayne was always going to walk away with it, think Day-Lewis in My Left Foot.
The Academy loves a good cripple :D

Nope. Any consensus from the hodge podge of eccentric personalities involved with the movie business is worthy of skepticism. Remember, the awards amount to little more than a popularity contest.

No. I liked Birdman but I also thought Redmayne in The Theory of Everything was great. However, as @stanleybmanly has said, such awards really aren’t about how fabulous a film or actor is.

I loved Birdman, but I don’t think Keaton’s performance deserved an acting win.

I’m not usually a fan of Michael Keaton but I thought he was great in Birdman. I don’t think he was robbed though as Eddie Redmayne was also great. I also thought Steve Carell was excellent in Foxcatcher. They all deserved an Oscar but there can only be one winner.

Fair/Unfair doesn’t apply to the nominating and awarding of the Oscars; it’s a highly subjective, not to mention political process. What’s unfair is pitting great performances against each other.

I agree with @rockfan. I think “Birdman” and Keaton’s performance were worth recognition but neither deserved Best. As for “Boyhood,” I consider it far less than brilliant. Perhaps at a later viewing I’ll feel differently, but on first viewing I found it long, tedious and disheartening.

No. I admit I only saw three of the 5 nominees in that category, but Eddie Redmayne’s work was incredible. I really liked Birdman, and would have liked Edward Norton to win in his supporting role, but I didn’t think that Keaton’s performance was a stellar.

@Pachy I agree about “Boyhood.” It was a one trick pony; tedious and way too long. What would you have chosen for best picture?

@hearkat I also thought Edward Norton was great in that supporting role and, as I said above, was delighted that Eddie Redmayne won best actor.

@janbb, I can’t say ‘cause I haven’t yet seen all the nominees.
