Here at the ranch we have a lot of treats on hand.
The geese love their Oat Nut bread and dandelion greens. The horses get ” Dobbins Delight, apple and oat horse treats.” and…there are treats called “Stud Muffins”, “Hoof snacks” and “Paddock Cakes.” haha
The hens get “Happy Hen, meal worm frenzy” dried meal worms and today we found the Party Mix, meal worms AND corn! lol
My cats love their “Greenies” and ” Temptation” treats and the occasional surprise can of real Tuna.

Chocolate chip cookies and fried chicken skin.
My fish love “Stranded Planes” and “BBQ angel”. Well, they are just name for fresh and “grilled” mosquitos. You slap a mosquito hard with your hands, try to keep all of its limps intact and make sure it isn’t crushed, and you have a Stranded Plane (the name come from the action of dropping the mosquito onto the water). And BBQ Angel is a bit tricky: you use an electrict racket to hit the mosquito, wait until it smells, then shake the racket to get the mosquito. The smell is usually like an over-grilled piece of meat.
Frodo loved biting my friends.
@kritiper I am assuming your pet is a dog? Not too may cats would like Chocolate Chip cookies. haha
@Mimishu1995 Haha…Stranded Plane, very funny!
@janbb Awww…poor Frodo, his people snacks were not kosher. :-(
Pizza Crust. She loves it.
Everything under the sun! Chocolate, chicken, cured meat, cheese! A very food motivated and food oriented dog! Got to be sure everything is out of sight!
My dogs like dog treats but they also love broccoli and cauliflower stalks, carrots and other veg. They like crusts too. If we have a sandwich or toast, they expect to get a little bit at the end. We’re so used to doing this that we automatically save a bit of crust even when we’re staying in a hotel.
The cat likes a few dries as a treat and it loves bread and chips (fries). He’s a bit of a carb lover. On occasions he will come up and make quite a fuss until he gets a bit of crust if he sees the dogs getting some.
Our dog has a sensitive stomach, so we’ve learned to avoid treats unless they’re natural. She’s had explosive diarrhea in the house more than enough times. She used to love Dentastix, but they’re horrible for dogs, so now she really likes sweet potato treats. It’s like a raw hide type of consistency, but the only ingredient is sweet potatoes. Kind of expensive, but worth it since they’re easy on her stomach. She sometimes has bright orange poop because of it, though. Better solid orange poop with an explanation than recurring liquid and/or bloody poops with no cause that the vet can find. “People food” also gives her trouble, including the chicken and rice stuff that’s supposed to get rid of diarrhea. Go figure.
She also gets a Kong filled with grain-free (we suspect a grain allergy) Blue Buffalo soft food that’s been frozen, every week day before I go to work. It keeps her occupied for awhile.
The cat ocassionally gets Temptations treats, which she loves. No stomach problems for the kitty.
@ZEPHYRA, chocolate is really, really bad for dogs. They like it but they can’t have it.
Two dogs that love “Alligator and Blueberry” training treats and for just chewing Elks and Deer antlers (maybe an occasional cow hoof).
@Coloma: Yes. A pizza-crust-loving Maltese.
My bunny loves Timothy hay.
@cookieman Prince’s favorite treat was pizza crust. He would walk around the house whimpering until he could find a place to hide it.
@Earthbound Misfit
A tiny bit of chocolate depending on the dogs size is usually not a problem. My old dog once ate my daughters entire easter basket of candy when she was about 4 years old. haha
We were panicked but he had zero issues/symptoms. He was also a large, 96 lb. dog. had a small dog ate all that candy it might very well have had a big problem.
@StaceyD Awww….I used to have bunnies, they also love oat hay and alfalfa. Plain rolled oats are really good for bunnies if they get the bunny runs. Welcome to Fluther!
@livelaughlove21 My friends dog has all those allergy issues too, she only gets grain free food and treats too.
@Tropical Willie Well, plenty of horse and cow hooves here, I could send you some horse poo and hoof trimmings for that extra delicious treat. Dogs love to eat horse shit, right up there with cat poo. lol
Pizza bones, definitely. Spencer learned very quickly the word “pizza”, so we stopped saying it (he can also spell it). But then he learned the sound of us ordering one over the phone, so we had to stop that, too (he stands, watching the door, whining and barking for the entire 30 minutes or so that it takes to get here). Now, he has also learned that if I have my wallet at the computer, I’m ordering a pizza – the boy is too smart for his own good.
It’s a red letter day for Spence when he gets to 1) bark at a delivery person and 2) eat pizza bones.
@syz I keep expecting to move some furniture and find a trove of pizza bones. And Prince has been dead for 7 years!
The Maltese goes crazy for cheese and hot dogs, but her absolute favourite is liver sausage in a tube.
The Lab loves her frozen Kongs most of all, preferably filled with that same liver sausage. When she hears me crack an egg, she is very interested, too.
Re: Chocolate and dogs…for a small dog, a tiny amount of chocolate can be deadly. Here is a toxicity meter.
Haha…great stories you guys. Our 8 hens here know the sound of the shaking meal worm bag at dusk, they come stampeding from parts unknown back to their coop for their bedtime treats and if you say ” want a cookie” to the horses they start nickering and when it takes too long to get to the next ones stall they start pawing the ground, LOUDLY! Ask the geese if they “want some bread” their loved Out Nut at $5.00 a loaf and the shrieking is deafening
Cats come running for “treats” when you shake the treat jar.
Animals are so funny!.
