No need. I’m cool as a cucumber.
Yes, and I desperately need one most days. Xanax works too, though, if I’m truly on the edge. Otherwise I just deal with my anxiety in other ways.
No. I find diaphragmatic breathing and 20 minutes of meditation are just as effective and much cheaper.
Please. I’m too chilly. Ask me again in July.
I have. Xanax is amazing. I took it for 6 weeks straight when I went through a very bad time. I have gone years not taking it at all and then might 20–30 pills here and there during a stressful several months or a year. Then not again for years. I think I would probably be better taking it more often, but I am hesitant to take drugs at all. The reason I say better is because I think the stress shortens my life literally and even risks sudden heart attack for me.
Nope. The times when I might need one I need to be at peak performance.
Ditto @gailcalled and @LuckyGuy—along with lots of fresh air, fun physical activities with a purpose (like biking, kayaking, hiking, diving, sailing, rock climbing. Just exploring a new environment on foot for a few hours regenerates me and improves my outlook). I also avoid toxic people and situations like the plague.
I was in an extremely stressful situation. I was being slandered by someone and they were trying to get me fired from a family business. The decision maker relies heavily on the advice of her accountant and he seemed to be on the side of the person spreading slanderous lies about me. I couldn’t even think about the situation without crying as I had trusted this person and she pretended to be my friend.
I had to attend a meeting where I was to defend myself. I COULDN’T cry in that meeting!
I took some private yoga sessions for two weeks to prepare, but I did give in and take a Xanax just before the meeting. It helped, I didn’t cry, and the decision maker saw through the plot and sided with me.
The only other time I needed a “chill pill” was before a major dental procedure. I’ve done the almost sedation before but that takes to long for me to recover. a little Valium calms me just enough and clears my system in less than a day. Otherwise, I’ll stick with yoga and meditation.
I think chilis are already compact enough.
Nope, I am a very calm and grounded extrovert, if I need to chill I’ll smoke a little herbal essence or have a wee bit o’ liquid spirits. I did take Xanex for awhile years ago when I was divorcing, kept me from taking an axe to my ex. lol
I despise that phrase, “take a chill pill”
When I hear it, I just wanna slap the person on the face :D
So yeah, thanks for not slapping me & indeed, answering :)
Take it? I virtually live with one attached to my tongue or sliding down the throat!
Absolutely NOT! My family practice doctor prescribed “lorazepam” (chill pill) and I said no way. Now in my medical records I’m a noncompliant patient.
I already do, without SSRI’s my anxiety is nearly unmanageable.
Yes, I’m a very anxious person so a chill pill would be useful.
