Should Hillary Clinton be the only Democratic candidate at this point?

Why is she the anointed one? Shouldn’t we have more options? Your thoughts?

I think part of it is a money thing. She is good enough and if she has a competitor she has to spend money in the primaries. Money that could be saved for the general.
I don’t like her but will vote for her since every Republican option is 1000 times worse.
edit :: for the record Elizabeth Warren is my #1
edit2 :: for clarity I don’t personally dislike her. I dislike the idea of dynasties.
Yes indeed we should have more options. Not a clown car full of silly candidates like another party I won’t name, but at least, in this pre-primary period, a mix of smart, experienced and I think more youthful ones who will challenge their opponents (and us) with increasingly better ideas.
I’m far from convinced that Hillary’s the best option.
Side question: Would a Hillary Clinton/ Elizabeth Warren ticket have any legs?
I would love to be able to vote for a Warren/Sanders ticket, but it would never win.
@syz That would be my first choice too but not gonna happen. But I wonder if putting Warren as VP with Clinton would energize the left wing of the Dems – and if the Dems care about us.
@chyna Of course I vote. It’s just that Clintons are so pathological and open about their lying that she will never have my vote. If Warren runs I will vote for Warren. If Clinton wins the nomination I will vote for whichever Republican is running against her.
@osoraro Well, that makes sense. Republicans don’t lie.
@dappled_leaves They lie no more or less than anybody else does. Their politics may be to the right of what I’m comfortable with, but I’m entitled to a protest vote. As I said, as of now my favorite is Warren. But she’s not running yet.
@osoraro What good is a “protest vote” if no one recognizes what you are protesting, or even that you are protesting?
@osoraro I’m not going to argue or debate with you but you might want to take a look at the Congressional committee sites that @johnpowell has pointed to in his question.
@dappled_leaves It doesn’t matter if nobody knows I’m casting a protest vote. It means something to me.
@janbb I’m not arguing with anybody. I’m not going to criticize anybody voting for Clinton. I just won’t vote for her myself.
@osoraro I know you weren’t. I just meant that you and I are both tired of engaging in questions that become argumentative on here.
@osoraro That confirms my preference for a different candidate but I would write in or abstain if I felt I couldn’t vote for her.
There will be other candidates. They don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting the nomination, but there will be other candidates. Unfortunately, I take Elizabeth Warren at her word that she will not be among them. Maybe Martin O’Malley
The Democrats could run a toaster oven on the ticket, and it would get my vote. Lesser of two evils would still apply.
@hominid Hey – with a toaster oven we could at least do something productive!
It’s good to hear others think she may have sociopathic tendencies. I figured Fluther would be all up in her vajayjay.
Toaster ovens help us make food. I like food. A lot. The toaster oven gets my vote…but only if it’s a Democrat, because Republican toaster ovens are just obnoxious.~
@livelaughlove21 And those who even believe in the existence of toast refuse to make it.
It’s still fairly early yet. There will be others running for the nomination.
@osoraro
If you’re going to protest vote then why not at least cast that vote for a 3rd party candidate that may better align with your views, rather than simply throwing it to the other big party?
@Darth_Algar I might. It depends upon who is running. But the third parties usually nominate wackaloons. But I live in California, so my vote will mean nothing anyway.
@osoraro
But the third parties usually nominate wackaloons. But I live in California… That made me laugh!
Third party votes are, IMHO, protest votes. I it wasn’t for the third party vote in the 2000 (Green Party), I believe the results would not be as close and Gore would have been president.
