Have you watched the 6 part HBO documentary about real estate heir/alleged murderer Robert Durst?

6 part documentary on HBO recently, currently also available on On Demand. Fascinating history of Robert Durst’s life, family, marriage, and interviews with him and those involved. He is from one of the wealthiest families in Manhattan and his past crimes have slipped through the cracks. I highly recommend it if that kind of thing interests you.

No. I have zero interest in learning more about this man and his ugly doings.

No. I have no interest. I’ve never wanted to learn about how the criminal mind works. I’ve tried to watch shows along these lines and it never sticks for me, whether they be true or fiction. Shows like Dexter, snapped, and other more serious documentaries have proven to be hard for me to watch.

This documentary is more in depth than the typical one hour true crime show. Because of Robert Durst’s family and because of the decades of history discussed, it’s fascinating, to me. I guess also because I lived close to Manhattan and when I was in high school, Durst was a common name to hear bandied about, along with Trump, when it came to New York city society and economy. My coworker saw the documentary and I told him after I watched all of the episodes we can discuss it. I’m halfway through. Instead of watching one episode per week, I waited till I DVR’d all of the episodes so I can binge watch.

The history of the family would probably interest me. I like learning about the Aster and Vanderbilt family and visiting their properties.

@JLeslie: What ones have you been to? I’ve been to a bunch in Newport and one in Hyde Park NY.

I’d like to see it, partly because I enjoyed Serial so much, and I suspect it will be similar to that in some respects. Partly also because I find the recent speculation of how much the director knew when to be very interesting, and I wonder whether it’s clear how the documentary was assembled. That is, did they know the ending already when they were shooting the beginning? Was the director negligent in not coming forward with information before the doc was released?
