Mine is mesmerized by animal documentaries, does yours spend a long time staring at the screen?

Not usually; he tends to just nap or chew a rawhide while we watch a movie. But a couple of nights ago we were watching something that had a scene in an animal shelter. The sound of all those dogs barking from their cages resonating around the concrete room made him snap to attention. It must have sparked memories from his four months in the shelter.

No, not really. I had a kitten once that used to love basketball. She would hit the ball with her paw as it moved around the screen.

When I met my wife, she had a cat that watched animals on tv with great intensity. I remember an episode of Letterman in which Dave had a clip entitled “An afternoon in the life of my dog——-” (I don’t actually remember the dog’s name). The entire clip was shot from the height of a dog. It must have been accomplished by somehow fastening a little camera to a dog There wasn’t another animal in the entire thing, but the cat was mesmerized at the scenes of weaving through chair legs, or scanning the underside of tables. When the scene shifted to a hand opening a screen door as viewed from below, the cat shot into the kitchen to check out the door then ran back to park its nose inches from the screen as though it dared not miss an instant.

I’ve never owned a dog but my cat did this exactly once and it was fascinating. He never responded to images of cats before, but I was watching something on animal planet and they were demonstrating cat anatomy with a model of a cat skeleton that was animated as though it were running. My cat perked right up and stared at the screen.

No dogs, but my female Siamese cat gets very excited when I watch funny cat videos that have other cats meowing. She jumps up and looks all around my computer for the “kitty” and sometimes bites me. Get the bad kitty! lol

My Staffy does and sometimes she makes funny noises like she’s chatting to the TV. My Jack Russell is blind now but even when she could see, she never paid much attention to the TV.

Don’t have a dog, but the cat does.

She used to love watching tennis, ever since she was a pup, followed the ball & the sound of it being hit.

Dakota gets very interested when other dogs are barking and howling.

Only when dogs are barking. Axel goes crazy and Gretel sings along.

Wolves howling is especially intriguing to ‘Kota.
